At least old CDs make good ice scrapers for car windshields when they are frozen over.

And if it makes you feel any better, I still try and flip pages on my Kindle or turn it over to see the other side of a page. And with a real book, will touch and drag my finger over a sentence to highlight it and save it as a note or tap the side of the page of a book to turn the page.

Was hearing in a game history docu about cd rot and old electronics stopping to work eventually. Those might not be the best things to collect for later value.

A few years ago, I went through all my old music. Many of my cassette tapes have degraded, many of my CDs started "rotting," all my vinyl still sound as good as they did when I last played them. Who would've thought all those years ago, that the oldest technology, based on Thomas Edison's original invention, would be the best over the long run?

Oakz, you need the neweFor storage, besides flash, I use M-DISC in DVD-R format. Should last 1,000 years and should still be readable due to using a carbon layer instead of a dye layer. I always go with redundancy and in different formats. Although I left the majority of my backups behind in the last move, the CD-Rs from my first couple of CD writers and and DVD-Rs from my first couple of DVD writers all still work fine, as do my very old hard drives.

Back in the day, I only ever had one CD-R mess up and it was because it started peeling. After that I switched to only using SONY discs. Always had a few hundred blank CD-Rs and DVD-Rs on hand. I used a lot as I tend to be a digital packrat.

I did, but chalked it up to my bad eyesight.
