Socoder -> On Topic -> Redoing the Same Thing

Spent this morning having to recode a bunch of my Newsletter Converter thing. I'd kept it on my laptop in the c:\temp\news folder, and stupidly never bothered to copy it back over to the NAS drive.. (My temp folder doesn't get backed up. d'oh!)
So, this morning I had to re-update a bunch of it, stripping out the old tabbed code, and adding in the new stuff like the functions for Tweets.

In all, I think it's probably a little neater, this time around, and in general I tend to find that happens a lot.
Usually when I scrap and redo the same thing, I can normally make it a little neater. I guess it's because I know what I'm aiming for, as opposed to my usual running-blind method of coding!

What's your experience in doing this?
Do you enjoy redoing things, or is it a chore you can't be bothered with?
What's the best thing you've ever recoded from scratch? And what's your worst experience?
