before I get any further with my game, I would like someone to have a loo and tell me if there is a better (faster?) way to achieve my goal.

Current state = main character walking around a scrolling background.

using Cocos2D and jays EasyCocos functions (https://jayenkai.socoder.net/2011/04/easycoco/)

and here's what I have --

It seems to be going a little slow, I haven't tested on hardware yet (only using the free licence) so I don't know if that's the issue or that I'm using 170+ sprites for the tile background...

forgot to mention the controls --
currently only really set up for iCade, but any keyboard will work,

press one key to start and a different key to stop...
Up = w,e
Down = x,z
Left = a,q
Right = d,c
