I installed Ubuntu on my lappy for the sole purpose of being able to access any network, anywhere.
Aircrack-ng can crack passwords for WEP and WPA2-PK networks.
So if you want to be completely safe, you might want to upgrade your private network to something more secure like WPA2-AES.

Much safer is to MAC lock your network.
I've found that a quick toggle of the settings, when friends and family need it, is plenty to keep things friendly enough for visitors.

Yeah... IIRC Aircrack also exists for Windows and Mac, but the capabilities and network card compatibility is limited.
