I was looking forward to Pebble Time 2, but when the company died on it's arse, it was time to look for something new.

Knowing I wasn't going to be able to Platdude-ise either of my remaining options, I figured I might as well just go for the one that apparently has a half-decent battery life. .. Because I'm a lazy fucker who never remembers to charge things.

In the end, I've opted to go for a Fitbit Blaze, and it arrived an hour or two ago.

Haven't had a proper play, yet, since I've had to put it on charge. But these are my findings so far.

Plus - My god, the screen!! Even on full brightness, the Time's screen comes nowhere close to how crisp, clean, bright and readable the Blaze's is.
It's wow!!

Minus - The screen!! The Blaze's scene is a widescreen screen, so any circular designs (e.g. A watchface!!) needs to be squished into a smaller area.

Plus - Heart Monitor. Always fun to have new stats!!

Minus.a - The Watchface selection is rather limited, and nowhere near as varied as Pebbles was.

Minus.b - Platdude The Blaze doesn't let users make their own watchfaces, so I no longer have a Platdude on my wrist

Plus - Add notifications! Rather than having everything switched on from the start, you need to manually enable each app's notification setting. Much less spammy!

Minus - A wrist-wiggle doesn't seem to light it up. I need to tap the screen to see the time. (This may be down to the currently low battery, and/or the need to learn a new wiggle!!)

Plus - The Fitbit app also tracks food and drink, as well as doing GPS movement tracking, so I no longer need that separate food app, or the DogWalker app, to track those.

HOWEVER

Big Minus - The Fitbit app does not share data with the Apple Health app, nor will it receive info from the app. This is a lacking feature of insanely moronic proportions.

Additionally - To charge the Blaze you need to pop the device off it's strap. Which is weird!

Well, the heart rate monitor certainly works!

You can actually see when I discovered the laptop's hard drive failure!!!

Did you die between 11:00am and 12:00pm? The shock of the HD killed you?

That would be the time before I got the watch, yesterday!

Battery Low...
So, that "up to 7 days battery life" turns out to be 2.
Excellent job, there, Fitbit!

Nah, it's about the same as the Pebble was.

It's annoying that despite advertising and consumer laws these companies can still get away with feeding people shit.
