Amazzzzooonnnnnnnnnn - Support RANT

As of today it has been 3 months of attempting to get Amazon to help out with their API and it's apparent failures we've had over the last 3 months. They couldn't help, their support team couldn't help, their premium support team couldn't help. Their engineering team.... couldn't help.

I noticed a small change in the code, that almost fixed things but... not quite. Despite amazon's support teams re-assurances of "oh no, that means it's all working", I posted over a bunch junk data instead of valid file uploads to get the same response.

This has to be quite possibly the worst and most long-term issue I've experienced in all my..flippp 15 years as a professional web developer, (many unprofesisonal years before that ) that's quite a while!

I guess that's most of my rant over for the moment

What's been your most loathed web-dev stuff? I've gone through moving hundreds of sites from server to server, PHP upgrades, crazy customer requests and numerous poor-documented API solutions but this one really seems the most tiresome.

One server we were on for a while had a maximum 1000 files per folder, which meant I had to rewrite chunks of both SoCoder and AGameAWeek to save uploads in numbered monthly/yearly folder, instead of just dumping everything in the same place.
.. that was a right pain in the area, I can tell you.
Having to handle all the old files, whilst converting new files to new locations.
Gaaah!!!

But I guess it helps organise stuff a bit.
*grumble grumble*

Eeep, sounds familiar that. I remember having a similar issue with an FTP program that only showed the first 9999 files, which required some sort of a limit break / update to the program later on to handle things better.

When MonkeyX came out, and having to run the games in a browser was a bit annoying. Sometimes I still come across example code that requires me to upload it to my site for it to run.

3 weeks later and still no closer to figuring out why this isn't working...ha! It's ridiculous.

and then, all of a sudden, all my old code works, without any changes... I bet it was just a permissions thing on their side. Oh well, here goes

Aaah, permissions. SyntaxError's evil twin.

Glad you got it all sorted.

Same here, I'd suspected it was a permissions issue for months, hahaha, ahhhhh all the fun of the fair, at least I'll have an interesting thing to post on the ol' blog

Ha, of course, more SP-API issues.... with another week long headbanger still, much closer to what I want to have done.,...but without it being fully done...

Hopefully Amazon support won't be quite as inept this time around, our support spud seems to be quite up for fast turnarounds on support requests this time around at least.
