Steve Elliott	After writing some code that should execute in a nano second, I noticed the Windows fade-in effect was slowing it down. I disabled it - plus the animation and slides too. I hate these things that slow down Windows, Matrix styley - I much prefer the snappy instant speed, but hadn't got around to seeing how things were adjusted in 8/8.1. The latest notes on how to accomplish it in 8: Linkage -=-=- Intel Core i5-4590 @ 3.2GHZ 8Gb RAM, NVidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2Gb, Windows 8.1 64-bit.

Jayenkai	Yeah, disabling effects and anims is one of the first things I tend to do, although I've recently started leaving shadows enabled. .. I think that might be down to my failing eyesight, more than anything!! -=-=- ''Load, Next List!''

Steve Elliott	Usually I do, just took me a bit longer to get around to adjusting those settings this time - makes such a difference. steve_ancell	It wouldn't bother me if Windows was rendered in chunky CPC mode, I would choose speed and functionality over asthetics every time.

Steve Elliott	I agree Steve, that slow fades and animation don't belong in an Operating System.
