Socoder -> Basic Basement -> 64Bit Basic?

I look round and notice that

Purebasic 64 Bit
Quick Basic 64 Bit

I am not sure of other language but what happen in say 2 or 3 years time when everythings move on 64 Bit. What going happen to 32 Bit software?

Why there isnt Blitz Max 64 Bit and some Blitz fans seem worry that it will be left behide.

I guess most of them move on to different programming language for whatever reason is.

Until a 64 bit processor is unveiled which includes ZERO 32 bit compatibility, there's not going to be much of a reason for the majority of dev's to make the switch.
64-bit is handy for a few things, but in most cases, 32-bit is perfectly adequate.
Other than really-big highscores, I can't think of a single reason why I, personally, would need anything to be 64-bit.

All of what Jay wrote is correct.

The Unfortunate thing about going to a completely 64bit processor without any 32 Bit compatibility is that all of your 32 bit software does not work which means that unless vendors update their software you're stuck.

Some software works so well in 32 Bit that there is no need for a 64Bit version.

MS Word is one that comes to mind. Without the over the top graphic front end, it's possible that the 32 Bit version of the software was never needed at all.
