Perlin Noise

https://freespace.virgin.net/hugo.elias/models/m_perlin.htm
An interesting and in-depth article about Perlin noise, a technique which can be used in many areas concerning graphics.

I actually only posted this because I saw that my productivity bar had turned red. It's working!

That's quite interesting. Looking at those possible applications, it looks like it could be very useful! Particularly those cloud and water ones... I'd have thought making realistic-looking things like that would be hard! Nice find!

I went back to this briefly, and made a small program to see the properties of the different parameters. Perhaps it's interesting to someone else as well. Requires .NET 2.0. It's not blazingly fast, but it does the job.

On top of Perlin noise, just visit the guy who came up with the algos website: mrl.nyu.edu/~perlin/

Nifty bastard, he is...
