Rumor: Google Phone Will Be Linux-Powered, GPS-Loaded and Cheap

https://blog.wired.com/monkeybites/2007/08/rumor-google-ph.html
What are your thoughts about the Google phone?

I reckon, if it's cheap, it might be good. If it's ad supported, I'd love to see how quickly it takes for someone to write something like AdBlock for it, especially if it's based on Linux.

Apparently a Linux phone does exist, but you can't send or receive texts or phone-calls! Not exactly a phone then, but I suppose you can't get a free phone network set up easily - satellites are expensive!

If google dose indeed make a kickass phone thats linux based and is basically an iPhone, i will buy it and use it. I hope they do because it would be awsome!

Awesome it may be, but I still probably wouldn't use it as a phone.

In fact, since my DS now does my "Mobile Internet Connection" and my "Mobile MP3 collection", I really haven't powered up my phone for a good year or so!

I hate my mobile (it's sensible though, cause it's old, which is good) and don't want a new one, but a portable Google running Linux might be cool.

Mind you, I should just really hold off until someone invents a portable Wikipedia.

But, surely a Google Phone with free Ad supported portable Net Access would be "Portable Wikipedia + Portable Socoder"!

Portable Socoder

Wow, I was doubtful, but this website still looks great at a 640x480 res. including toolbars like WebDeveloper So, it's possible.

But it wouldn't really be handy unless I went out more. Which won't happen.
