The answer to 100 requests of "Why don't you make an Android version?"
Even Andrew Huang had a rant about Android, yesterday.

Hmmmm, after killing my bluetooth doodad (the old one from years ago) I started testing things using the serial monitor in arduino ide. However, it seems to give up sending data part way through. It'll send maybe 150 bytes or so then just stop.

That sounds.. .. wrong!
Is there maybe some kind of failsafe, in Bluetooth? Sounds like it's shutting down the connection if, maybe, a signal is "wrong" or something?!

This is using the inbuilt serial. So it's not even a Bluetooth problem yet 😞
It's a shame as I managed to save some random junk pixels on the flash chip, which I can load back, but can't grab enough data from the serial port to correct it 🤪

|edit|
Looked into serial stuff in blitzmax.... can't get first attempt to work.

|edit| again, tried something a bit more practical...

Python! - Everyone uses python these days, and there are existing examples of transferring data to an arduino...!!!

Nope.

Installed Python, installed pyserial library...

OK, first thought, check windows path and make sure it contains references to python. Yes it does.
Reinstall pyserial...

So I have an environment set up correctly apparently, with the library I need installed correctly, but it doesn't detect the damn thing.

I hate coding.

Bloody hell. Now the screen has died. It was sitting there, counting the time, a little garbled graphics at the top that it loaded from flash. Was working for well over an hour, then I looked over and it was showing just all over the screen. I figured turn it off and on again, waited the couple of second for it to boot up, nothing. There's a dull light from it, but will it hell draw anything at all. I don't know if the controller chips in these things are known to just die like that, or if it's something else, but god dammit!

AHA!

Not a screen problem, a wiring problem. Perhaps the breadboard is getting too old and not making contact with the pins very well. Soldered the screen directly to the beetle board and it's working

|edit|
Now I have to solder the flash chip

*phew*

Good luck soldering the rest.
I'd be awful at that, with my shaky hands.

Introducing...

It's almost smart and almost a watch

Features

3 Working buttons
1 Rumble Motor
Bluetooth ble
128kB Flash storage

That's it. As you can see from the garbled image on the screen, I have not fixed the 'can't download an image yet' problem but I can however effortlessly load the junk I managed to save that time.
Pressing a button will light up the screen for 5 seconds, which it counts nicely itself without a real time clock chip. As a result it doesn't know what time it is unless you tell it. It's happy to accept that info but I for got about it when I took the photo.

I just discovered this...

https://nicekeyboards.com/docs/nice-nano/

Apparently it has quite low power consumption, built in bluetooth and lipo charger, also, it's quite small!

Maybe it's time to look at this project again.
