Why no newsletters for two weeks?

Three.. I'm not counting that last one as a proper one.

I'm just gettin back to my normal routine, things should be back to normal this week.

I agree with Afr0, cos I like the newsletters.

But whilst were on the topic, where has the Wednesday Worklog gone?

JL235: I wasn't being opinionated, I was merely curious.
That said, I do like the newsletters.

A few weeks ago I asked for help with the newsletter and got naff all response. Rather than sending out similarly shit ones for a few weeks, I just said "I'm not ready", and left it until ready.
Should be back this week.

I think I missed that one, tbh.

I personally find no real use for the newsletter. It's basically rehashed versions of stuff that happened this week on SoCoder--which I've already read.

I still like the newsletter idea, I just don't like how it's all unoriginal content. Maybe we could work on that. Like "Stealth's quicktip for the week" or something. Whatever people wanted to pitch in to make it more interesting.

If Jay sent us all PM's each week, then I think we'd PM back something to put in it!

I'm not sure Jay needs to do that. A small team of writers would be sufficient.

I disagree that there should be content exclusive to the newsletter, but it would be useful if once a week someone came up with a nifty tutorial and it was posted at the same time as the newsletter was sent out.

The tutorial would be specifically written for the newsletter once a week CR.

My problem with that is that the newsletter is simply an email. People wouldn't be able to share the tutorial with their friends, and it's all done using email. I think there needs to be a good website backend for the newsletter, rather than all of the content being contained in the email.

Yeah, a weekly "Socoder Magazine" was pretty much the idea way way back when me and Stealth discussed it. (figured I'd left it long enough before I eventually did it myself)

It's kinda why I tried to rejig the webbased edition into it's wider two-column version for a while, but ..
I dunno..
Didn't really work out that well.
So, it went back to a single column, but kept it's pictures.

..
The pics look ok on the webbased one, don't they? (Newsletter 73)

I had considered slapping a few CSS bits around it, but.. That'd be a bit "theme specific", and I didn't want to do that.

Page One | Part Two | Part Three | View All

I did once consider making it paginated, with each section having it's own page..

I'm willing to write something short once a week web coding related. Maybe you can find a few other people in other subject areas to write too.

I'm willing to do "Afr0's weekly network/MMO tips!", but knowing Jay, he wouldn't want it...
