No computer

It went kaboom.

So my laptop finally died, because I used my USB recording device to kill it off somehow. I don't really know why it happened, as my hardware knowledge is quite bad, but apparently my motherboard is gone. All I did was to plug it into the USB hole and then turn the device off, and the screen went black.

The worst part about this is that I had all my stuff on the laptop; my photos, my music, my code -- everything. And if I can't recover that from the harddrive I'm going to be an unhappy man.

Bummer. I feel for you. When my old lappy broke it was an emotional time, lol. I wouldent worry about your HD tho as you can buy a case to use a laptop HD as an external HD, you dont need a power cord either, it just eats off 2 USB port.

You should also be able to make a fair amount of money selling scavanged bits. Spare screens can go for quite a bit. Then theres the battery, charger, ram, dvd drive, and whatever else you can break off it

Yet another "You must back things up" reminder.
..

Meh, I'll backup later!

Maybe.

Hope you can get your stuff off the HD, Phoenix!

Laptop drives are quite happy to work after weird things happen to them, losing power shouldn't bother it too much. Recently i accidentally dissconnected my main laptop drive while the thing was switched on! both the laptop and the drive were fine.
