Unnamed game...

As this has developed from and idea into some actual code, I figured I'd stick it in a blog entry...

The game is currently going by the name 'Without Walls' But I don't like it, another name is needed, preferably something without a DS in it .

Anyhow, here are a couple of screenshots, the first is a mockup, the second an actual screenshot of running code.

I have decided to go with that little green wizard for the main character, I think he fits nicely, however I stole him from a snes game, so he'll have to be recreated differently.

Dave and Greenie, drawn about 4 or 5 years ago!

"Steady Dave"? Steady Dan sounds better, actually.

Is that going to be one of those games where you walk on the tiles to make them melt away ?

It is, with some new tiles, like the wooden ones, which will be a pop-up bridge activated by a button, and the ice, which is of course ice.

I'm currently pulling my hair out with the collisions, when walking, can stop at some tiles, which is fine, but I'm having trouble doing the same on the ice. Not to worry though, I'll get there.

The wizard now has a name!

He shall now be known as
Tarquin the trainee wizard

So I guess the game should be called Tarquins Quest or something like that.

Here is a screeny of my progress.

As you can see, I can't think of a good way to use the top screen. Anyone got any ideas?

I had opted out of displaying a map on the top screen, instead, the player is able to scroll around the level with the stylus while holding one of the shoulder buttons.
Also, currently working, is the ability to pause the game and exit to the title screen.
