eBook DS

I have decided to make a decent go at finishing my txt reader. To make it a 'proper' release it is going to need some decent features, preferably to make it better than other ebook readers for the DS.
One thing I don't see happening is using TrueType fonts, I have seen another ebook reader do this, and, well, I just the fact that the format deals with vector graphics puts me off trying it, never mind that I don't know the first thing about the format.

So, does anyone have any ideas for features or general design ideas I could use in this thing?

So far I have only a few ideas...

1. Landscape and Portrait orientation
2. MP3 playback (for audio books)
3. Custom colours for background and text
4. Stylus AND Joypad controls
5. All the interface graphics MUST be realy cool
6. Selection of pre-rendered anti-aliased fonts

I like the dock file list from my menu, I must think of a way to use it in the ebook reader.

Any other ideas?

7. Bookmarks
8. Bitmap 'margin notes' support
9. Highlighting
10. Pagination to make turning back to previous pages possible
11. Different scroll methods, e.g. full page, line by line etc.

For the dock thing, how about using larger sprites, say 64x64 res ones, each icon being a book image, with a teeny-tiny font version of the book's name appearing on it.
And, possibly even have a standard open-book icon for the book that's currently being read.

Oh, and a nice little bookmark sticking out of those that have saved bookmarks.
..
And if you're saving a Bookmark file, you might also want to let people highlight bits of books, too, ie draw yellow rects under the font.

Some good ideas there, reminds me of the 'skribble' idea, having a 1bit bmp for each page, or rather some pages, for those who like to make notes in the margins. Having say a button or screen area that they can press to bring up the bitmap for that page, make some notes, then dies it again. I figure 1bit (2 colour) wouldn't take up much space on the card.

Doe anyone have any suggestions for gfx? I like the idea of using better quality icons in the dock, but not so much using the dock for the file list, more for the settings or something like that.

I like the idea of having the icons and a short description of the file (perhaps file size, last accessed date or something) similar to the way windows does it in tiles view.

Sort of like that but less crappy looking.
