Bad Day

Good Aunt 1 regularly heads over to Ireland to visit Good Aunt 2. She does this maybe twice a year, and it's nice for Good Aunt 1 to get away. Good Aunt 1 has learning/mental issues since she was in an accident as a child. She's mentally stuck at the age of a 12/13 year old, and although she's now 66, she still functions like a child.
So, yes, it's nice for her to get out, see her elder sister, and spend some time with their family.

Last night (9'ish) she rang Mum, panicking. She'd found Good Aunt 2 lying at the bottom of the stairs.
God only knows how she managed to function, but by the time she rang Mum, she'd already managed to get my cousins, a few people from the street, and the Ambulance was just arriving.

Mum was on speakerphone through the whole ordeal, and .. it wasn't a good outcome.
We had to sit and listen through to the "We've done all we could" ending of the drama.

Today's been spent trying to figure out how to get Mum over to Ireland during New Year, a massive Train Strike, and other bits and pieces.
Things are in motion, and now we're waiting on a date for the funeral.
Fuxake..

RIP : Elma

We are sorry for your loss, but hopefully the family is incredibly proud of Aunt 1 who for handling things so well, in a situation that would make a non-challenged person completely fall apart and become nonfunctional. She did extremely well.

Keeping your family in our prayers.

As to your Mum, I hope travel is more functional there than it currently is here.

Oh bugger!

Condolences to you all.

National Express coach to Liverpool (or closest port that accesses Ireland)? Or flight from Manchester to Ireland?

Manchester. It's just easier with all the train strikes.

Good Aunt 1 has indeed been praised. A ton. And no doubt will continue to be.

General family updates.

Uncles 1,2 and 3 have been all informed. Uncle 3 (Booze++) is already at Good Aunt 2's house, since he lives over in Ireland, but is unhappy that there's a No-Drinking rule in place.
Uncle 4 (yes, it's a big family) is proving to be the hardest to track down. We have a number of phone numbers for him, but none seem to be his number any more.. (!!)
Good Aunt 1, the mentally disabled Aunt, is the only one of us who knows where he lives, but she doesn't "work" in addresses, and instead knows things by directions, and he's taken her to the flat so she knows where it is....
But she can't quite explain the directions over the phone well enough for us to find him. Hmmm...
We're still trying.
We'll find him... !!

Bad Aunt 1 has been informed. Bad Aunt 2 hasn't. Nobody's quite sure how to contact her, but apparently Bad Aunt 1 has her number, so we're hoping she does that. (Might have to poke her to get her to do it, though)

Still not sure when the funeral will be taking place. The funeral director's supposed to be getting in contact with the family on Tuesday, so hopefully we'll find out more, then.

Sorry to hear of your loss, hope the rest of year is only in the up from here. That must have been quite the ordeal for Good Aunt 1 in particular. (sends hugs)

Good Aunt 1 will be returning to England on her scheduled flight on Thursday.
Elma will be returning to her home on Friday where she'll be laying for friends and family to say their goodbyes,
Tuesday's the funeral. So Mum and Good Aunt 1 have to get a flight over on Monday, then home again.. maybe Wednesday? Not 100% yet.

Not 100%, but it's better than it was just a few days ago.

Big hugs.

....and, relax.
Mum's home. All was good over there. A lovely funeral, from all accounts.
A home funeral, with family in the living room, priest at the opened front door, and tons of neighbours gathered along the street.
Sounds lovely, and very Irish!!

The burial took place at the nearby cemetery, with the coffin being carried to the hearse by multiple groups as it went.

Sister's opted to stay over in Ireland for a short while, and tour along the coast. Not sure how long/how far, but she seems like she needed some time to herself.

I'm going to shut down for a bit, now.
Nanite, all.
