Hold Left mouse button to fire, and hold right mouse button for bullet-time.

Kill everything!
Don't let them multiply.

And whatever you do, don't let the blue's breed!
They'll 'ave ya!

Latest Update

Version 3
Slowly but surely, the game's getting better.
Badges are in, blue and white microbes are in, and..
...

I think this is as good as it's getting, to be honest.

Cracking game!

My mouse was waaaay to sensitive - any chance you can add a setting to reduce the guy's speed?

OK..
F2 on the menu changes the sensitivity.

Awesome game, I *almost* got your score, then I got overtaken by the microbes!

My arm hurts now though, does it work with a gamepad?

Need to pop in a comment as well. Played it last night, and even though my score sucked, it was pretty fun and kept me interested longer than I had expected. Great visuals! Another splendid job.

Why yes, inferiors, that is a score or 30,500 ... and 1. Bwahaha...

Jay, my favorite game of yours so far, I think. Extremely fast paced, great visuals, and very satisfying sound-effects.

Excellent game, but I have a few minor suggestions:

1) Pressing F1 whilst in-game should not switch between fullscreen/windows. If they do it quits after the game and changes resolution, which is kinda disconcerting for the end-user if they didn't realise F1 did this.
2) The title screen needs improvement to make it a bit clearer. Make the Microbes title wider, seperate the 'your name/highscore' and the highscores list a bit more so they are wider apart and add something like 'left click to play' at the bottom in big letters.
3) The title YouTube video should be linked somehow so that people can see it on the front SoCoder page. This will make them more inclined to download it.

If you can also have it switch screen mode whilst playing then it'll also be a big plus!

Point 1 and 4 are counterintuitive, as they're the same point, but the complete polar opposite of each other.
To be fair, I don't generally spend my ingame time going "Weee... Wayyy.. Wooooo.. Waaaahhhh!!" and flipping back and forth between windowed/fullscreen modes.
In fact, if I'm completely honest, I very very very very rarely play anything in fullscreen mode, at all.

Point 2, Yeah. I should probably add "Click to Start" somewhere. I'll add that to my template. But, the template is how it is, because it lets me begin a game very very quickly. The layout would probably look a little better with a smaller font. But. Well.. You know.. Blitz and Fonts are a pain in the arse, to be honest. It took a while to find a font that would work with a lot of games, but that also looked fairly decent. The font only really works in certain sizes, which is a pain in the arse!
Adding a border would probably help, but then you have the issue of colour-co-ordinating it to suit every game.
A long while ago, I just figured to hell with all that, and made myself a bog-standard titlescreen that fits everything.
You might've noticed that from my last dozen or so games.

Point 3 I've said I'll get around to, except I haven't gotten around to it yet. You don't need to keep pointing the point out. What I do need to do is sort out a space for it on the frontpage.

I should probably point out that none of your points are against the actual gameplay. That's quite a good sign.

Last Thursday morning, me and you were in the mudchat. You suggested I should make Space Invaders, but faster.. with the normal speed being Bullet Time.
At that point, I went "Ooh, that's an idea" and then I disappeared.
About 8 hours later I posted pretty much the entire game.
The only additions since were the White and Blue microbes, and the movement of the score/health, which I did a few days later.
Kick ass game, rapid development, the way it oughta be.

To clarify, these were minor suggestions. But perhaps I should explain my motivation:

Point 1) was because when I first played Microbes it quit at the end and when I restarted it did so in fullscreen. I was half way through posting these two bugs before I decided to probe further and then realised it was because I pressed F1 whilst it was running. As there are no options on the in-game section I still think this is a bug.

Point 2) was because it took me about half a minute to fully understand the whole of the title screen. I just think it could be clearer, that's all.

Jayenkai You don't need to keep pointing the point out.
I do if I thought you missed my point. TBH if I post something you've already done or plan to do then you should just post 'done', ignore it and then move on.
