Socoder -> Off Topic -> Say ''B-Bye'' to the bulb !

All 100 Watt incandescent bulbz will be going out of sale on Tuesday, and by 2011 all incandescent's will be outlawed.

Just think... This could spark a new crimewave... Drug dealers !, move over and make room for the bulb dealer !.

|edit| Can you imagine the embarrassment of getting sent down for bulb dealing ! |edit|

I hate the light those energy saving ones give

I don't think they work with a dim-switch either !

And I've experienced some of the cheap packs explode in the socket, due to poorly designed circuitry.

Fairground ride operators are also worried, because apparently these energy-saving bulbs don't light up their merry-go-rounds and ghost trains properly, so they get fewer customers, since it's less authentic. Or something.

Already use 'em, fuck the old bulbs. I've been using the same ones since i bought my new house, and n'er a one has died. They're more expensive, but pay for themselves in full.

Though i do agree, the lighting is a little wonky...

In light of this new ruling, our shop stocked up on a crapload of good old fashioned bulbs, and will indeed be stashing them away behind the counter.
In many ways they're there for the owner, who absolutely detests the 10 minute warm up time of crappy arsed ones.

Oh, and don't fall asleep with one nearby, I usually wake up with my eyes all red and puffy.

There might be one way around that problem, they could use car bulbz. The geeks might suggest HighBright-L.E.D's, but they don't seem to generate the same warm atmosphere as incandescents, and those poxy energy-savers don't give the warm feeling either !

Hooray, they save a tiny bit of energy.
How come nobody ever mentions that each CF has enough mercury in it to poison an entire city's water supply?

Screw the bulbz !, they should be looking at ways to make transport (and energy generation) more cleaner.

This is the real deal... www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2009/may/06/anaconda-wave-power

They should make a few scaled-down versions, and incorporate them in swimming bars, then use that energy to power the building or something.

This could be a fun project www.popularmechanics.com/technology/industry/4224763.html

Mount it on a weathercock pole, and during bad weather, use it to charge your mobile phone, laptop, or store the energy in batteries during the day, and use it to power high power L.E.D lighting in your room at night.

I guess it's more efficient and all, but I don't think banning is necessarily the right way of doing things. Promoting is great, banning just reduces choice. And personally, as an American, I feel that "choice" is generally one of our ideals... generally...
