It's about fucking time. All those whinging whining bastards have finally lost their battle, and now .xxx domains are finally available for use by the pornopeeps. .. Now all the whinging whining bastards can click "Lock out .xxx" on their firewalls/routers/etc, and they can shut the hell up about it, and keep their internet twice as pornless. @Coders The idea was proposed years and years ago, and I too remember hearing that they were thinking of implementing it 5 years ago. But like all things to do with advancing the internet it takes ages to actually roll it out (like IPv6, a standard now 13 years old). I'm in favour of .xxx, but one problem I have is that example.xxx looks a bit like your not stating the .xxx bit. A bit like signing a check with an 'x', I'm leaving it blank for you to pick .com, .org, .net or whatever. So is there going to be a SoCoder.xxx ? |

@Jay and @dna, I think being able to block all adult content by simply blocking any site ending with .xxx is a little naive. There will still continue to be 1000's of adult sites on the current extensions. But it does also help to clarify things further! Next up, the ability to have our own extensions. I want hundred of domains ending with .pmc! |

No, it doesn't force all porn to be under .xxx. That is also true with all of the domains. You can use any of them for anything, even if it's from a different country. This doesn't mean it's useless, it's just about giving internet names better content. Like .org is generally used for non-profit organizations, and .tv is used for TV stations. Having .xxx gives better context to what a site is about. |
