would it be possible/safe to add a ’delete’ button to the ’your uploads’ page?

I never really liked the idea of uploaded files suddenly vanishing from the internet.

It's one of the main reasons that I hate those "We bothered to steal your content, but didn't bother to mirror your app for you." style websites..
They're nice to link, but if your site goes down, your files will be lost forever. All oughta mirror. Inexplicably, none do..

Instead, I tend to prefer a link stays available, but changes if you feel the need.
So, where you might have "MyStarWarsGame.zip", you might later end up uploading a similarly named "MyStarWarsGame.zip" with "Sorry, had a Cease and Desist.txt" as it's only content.
That, in my eyes, is a better way to do it.

What do other think?

If you upload a file of the same name, it will override it. So you could upload files over the existing ones.

But I think we should be allowed to take down content, because it should be our pictures/zip not Jay's. That's really what it comes down to: control.

Just allow a 'delete' option, but keep the files on the server with a deleted tag. Then we think our files are gone, but you still get to EVILLY RETAIN OUR FILES!!.

Perhaps you could do something different to the delete, like run a lottery and give the file to a random SoCoder user.

This is why I'm still on SoCoder. Members like DD are more than genius.
