I was in a Microsoft store a few days ago, and had a fun discussion with a guy working there about comparisons between Google and Microsoft products. He was very surprised when I told him about Google Docs, and especially how widespread its use is at my school. He hadn't been aware that viable alternatives really are making themselves known.

I use LibreOffice, before that, OpenOffice.org, it does what I need. So much so, I got a few Office 2013 license keys with my Bizspark membership, and thankfully, never been intrigued to install it as of yet... So, I'm not really too fussed!

Though, this hardly surprises me really, the angle they are taking, more companies will follow suit, DRM is an all or nothing game nowadays, these systems were always going to get worse for legit users, people who actually go out and spend the money... Is it such a shock that MS have totally locked their product down?

Not for me, but like I mentioned, I used alternatives since, well, cannot remember, because when it comes to this stuff, the writing was on the wall a very long time ago!

I put the demo of Office 2013 on my son's new laptop. What a steaming pile of crap it is. The UI is truly awful. I soon downloaded Libre Office for him.
