Are you selling this, or is it a system you're looking to buy? Seems a good enough system, but I'd be worried about the internal gfx, and the processor speed is a little slow these days.. I mean, it's not too slow, but I've been using 2Ghz+ systems for a good few years, so a drop to 1.8 would probably be noticable to me. However, it's not too bad, so long as it's cheap. The processor is a little slow for me too, and Intel graphics cards are sh*t. If this is to play games, I wouldn't buy it. You sure about over-clocking it that far? A guy I knew at Uni had an amazing PC with a Core 2 Duo which ran at around 2.8ghz (maybe a little lower), and he knew loads about PC hardware and knew exactly what he was doing. But he only pushed his CPU as far as 3.2ghz, maybe a little higher. I'd doubt you'd get as far as doubling the speed. Maybe 50% increase if you had a good motherboard, which is a key factor in over-clocking. But what really determines if it's good deal (or not) is all that info in relation to the price. But as I suggested before, check showrooms such as Evesham Technology for clearance PCs. I got a free 3 year open case on-site warranty with my clearance PC. Only £200 without monitor. I believe you can't even pay for an open-case warranty with Dell. |

I think the processor will be fine; it's a core 2 duo, just because the clock speed looks a little low that thing would outperform a p4 clocked at 3.4 in a heartbeat (or less than that, rather). "Integrated 10/100 Ethernet NIC" Generally I prefer to have a 10/100/1000 (Gigabit) NIC; I do a lot of networking, if you ever decide to upgrade to a gigabit router/switch in your house you might want to consider upgrading it. If you don't have any other computers in your house though/don't connect or use them to transfer files though, then you probably don't have to bother. "Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic" It's important to note that home basic does not have all the new graphical features (windows aero) that the other versions of vista have. If you don't want that, then that's fine, but i think a lot of people don't realize that the only versions that support it are business, home premium, ultimate, and enterprise. no, it is crap the CPU can be easily overclocked though no graphics card, i recommend a X1950 Pro, best directX 9 card for it's price. also dell cases and mobos are all proprietary, that means nothing stock will fit in them. honestly you should just build your own. -=-=- i like green haired girls... |
