LOL

I preordered from Smiths to get a few bonus items and a tenner off. My son's getting a copy too.

Hopefully we'll be able to meet up on an island somewhere and exchange fruits etc.

Looks like everything important is in there, and I do like the idea of eventually being able to change the layout of the island, too. Awesome!!

Just watched the Direct. That looks AWESOME!!!

Many noticable improvements and some missing things (which I'm sure were not mentioned deliberately), including the Cap'n, Blathers the museum curate, the pelican Postman, Pete, KK Slider and Crazy Red to name a few.

I can't wait to discover Animal Crossing life and more all over again!

I've pre-ordered two copies - one from Smyths (which I'll have to collect), the other from The Game Collection, which have always got my pre-orders out early (more than a week early in some cases). So fingers crossed I at least get one copy on the day (and that the Post Office don't suspsnd all services!)

Can't wait!

Spent a couple of hours in Isle Plat, last night.
Standard AC opening stuff. Pick the weeds, say hi to everyone, learn the ropes.
Already a few nice additions to the norm, but nothing major, yet.

I got two copies today - one for me, the other for my son.

He had a quick play before going to work and said it was great (although he claims that the animal voices are slightly different). I've got to go to work soon too, so I won't be playing today.

BTW He's got oranges in his land. Hopefully I'll get something different

I've got native Cherries, and my "Mom" sent me some peaches, but I've no shovel yet, so can't plant them.
.. they're currently sat on the floor in my tent!

Don't let the ants eat your cherries!

Got my shovel, planted some peaches, but will they grow?!

Meanwhile, I sent my neighbours some cherries in the post, yesterday, but they didn't send me fruit back like they used to..
Grrr...
Will be trying again, today.

I shall be unwrapping tonight...

|edit|

Where did my post go???

Anyway, I've got cherries in Paradise. Loving it so far. The crafting and new set-up is superb.

My son now has oranges, pears, coconuts and apples - I hope to visit his land tomorrow and "acquire" some fresh fruit.

I've never played an Animal Crossing game... whats the deal with them?

Um.. not sure about your post, Rockford... did it definitely post the first time? If so, I'll delve into the database, and see what I can find.

@TheRevillsGames..
Animal Crossing is a very slow paced game. It's forced to be slow paced.. Much more than a lot of players are normally used to.
You start out with a small house, and through a series of loans, gradually level up your house.
You can pick fruit from trees, sell them for "bells" (the game's currency) and then use the bells to pay off your loan.

Other things to do..
Different people have different fruit in their villages, so connect with your friends for more fruit. Different fruit = higher profit when you sell it back home.
You can talk to other villagers in your town, and occasionally they'll give you chores to do, with gifts/cash as a result.
Furnish your home with things you gather through the game, buy from the store, or earn as gifts.

You can smash rocks to earn gems/metals and chop trees for wood, and in this edition of the game, use those to craft more items.
There's a big checklist of bugs, insects and fish that you can catch in the game.. works a bit like the Pokédex in that "fill it all up!!" manner.

There's also the little art designer tool that lets you fashion your own clothing, and decorate your home with your own artwork.

And then there's weeds to pick, too. Because spending a couple of hours wandering around a village picking weeds is exactly the sort of action-orientated gameplay that we need...

I can't explain why this is a good game. I'm not even sure if it is..
If you ever played Ultimate Online, or Zelda Breath Of The Wild, but enjoyed wandering around the world more than the actual quests, then this is probably the sort of game for you.

*note : most of the above is the same for any/all Animal Crossing games. For this one, replace Village with Island!

Indeed. Animal Crossing is far from an action packed game. To all intents and purposes it's a life-sim - it replicates the real world (to a lesser degree) in that you have in-game responsibilities to the bank and your neighbours, while completing work projects that enhance your environment.

Cathcable lildlife is all time based - fish and bugs are only avaliable to be caught at certain times of the day and during certain months of the year (some even only come out during certain weather conditions). The game is played in real-time. Day turns into night and then back into day. Seasons change. The landscape changes. The neighbours change - they come and go. It rains. It snows. It's sunny. It celebrates some real-life events (always under a different name though).

Anything you buy, catch, find or dig up can be sold or donated to the museum (or neighbours). The museum has a wonderful living display of any wildlife dontated and fossils are displayed as huge skeletons or in cases. All items have short descriptions so you can learn about them. There is a real sense of need and purpose in filling out the museum - as Jay said, it's the Pokemon "Gotta Catch'Em All" of the game.

It's a wonderfully warm, funny, slow and relaxing game. Unless you're trying to catch a Banded Dragonfly - then it's stressfull as hell!

Sounds different enough to try at some point in time. My wife give me Zelda breath of the Wild for my bday so I've got quite a bit to get into

It's probably the most non-gaming game available. I've been a fan since the original N64 Japanese version, but I can see why people don't like/get it too. It never looks like much is happening, but there is always something to do. To catch, see and do everything literally takes years.

I always considered it to be Nintendo's biggest sleeper hit, and good lord are the sales figures showing it.
It's beaten Doom Eternal in the first few days sales.. .. in the UK!!!
Consider that Doom launched damn near everywhere, and that Animal Crossing is.. ..well, it's Animal Crossing.. and that's a damn fine stat to have!

It's quite funny how it's turned into a massives seller, as Nintendo did not plan to release it at all in Europe. I purchased the U.S. game for my GameCube (needing a FreeLoader) and then a year later the Australian PAL version was released - which I bought immediately. It was only six months after this that an EU one was released, when Nintendo caved in to demand.

I'm sooooo glad it's getting the interest it deserves.
