Gotta say, kinda disappointed...

The Game&Watch Mario looks great, but I feel like the Gameboy Color DX edition had WAY more features.
Also, the "3D AllStars" sounds good on paper, but could they not have given Mario64 a makeover?
The DS version had better assets..
Come on...

The remote control Mario Kart looks fantastic, but you'd need 2 switches.. .. and 2 players!!!
And 2 karts!!!

Nah..

Oh, colour me excited. Super Mario Sunshine in HD on the Switch? Yes please. Take my money.... wait a minute...

Fifty quid. FIFTY QUID.... And that's fifty quid for physical AND fifty quid for digital!

Why are digital games the same price (or more) than physical games. I don't get it. Or is my brain stupid?

Fifty quid. Fucking hell. No.

Hmmm, how much for the game and watch I wander.... Triston was super excited about the remote control mario kart but I'm speccing him out a new PC for christmas as it is! He'll end up with a nicer one than mine the lucky kiddo!

You could probably HD mod a gamecube for around the same price and get a similar effect I reckon re: Sunshine HI-DEF

You could, but you couldn't exactly fit it in your pocket, or play without a tv.

So, they're all just emulated?
Gotta say, biggest disappointment, EVER!!!!!
Of all the things they could've done, no enhancements, no new levels, nothing.
What an absolute crapfest.

Not even the Mario64DS enhancements...

With the recent source code re-compiles, the homebrew community have genuinely outdone Nintendo when it comes to Mario64.

It's not just Super Mario 64 that homebrew improves either - pretty much every GameCube, Wii and Wii U game is enhanced in newer emulators and there are HD patches for many N64 games too.

I just don't understand Nintendo. If there's something that pirates are doing and you want to prevent them doing it, the best practice is to remove their need to do it. Mario 64 can have a couple of cheat codes applied to make it widescreen, and Nintendo didn't even bother themselves to do that. It would have made the game a lot better with literally zero effort. It's the donkeykong VC all over again

I really do appreciate that Covid fucked up a lot of their plans. That the big Super Nintendo Land got postponed, and even the Olympics, which together would've made for an epic Mario Event..

But come on, guys.
Slapping a couple of emulators and a frontend together is NOT the way to celebrate Mario's 35th.

I understand there's been texture tweaks and stuff, but Mario64 was already upgraded for the DS edition, and there's really no reason they couldn't have expanded on that, or at the very least, included it in the bundle.

Very very disappointed by this, and sure am glad I didn't rush to preorder it.

I could have sworn that collecting that green shell in jolly roger bay made you surf around on it, whats with holding it out in front of you? Doesn't make sense.
Also why are the camera controls changed? I've been playing this game on real n64 and emulation for literally decades, whay would anyone invert the camera controls, not only that, they did it wrong! up/down still zooms in/out, but they flip left/right??!?!?! left=right and right=left? seriously?! and the canons are wrong also!!

Oops!!

The credit I got back from the return of last month's iPad Controller Grip thing went straight on this.

Pros and Cons

Does indeed work on carpets.

Dining room table and chair legs are a terrible obstacle!

Mum is rubbish at it.

You CAN play it on your own, Grand Prix and time trial modes are both there.

You can even do "play and pass" time trials with only one kart+switch. When you complete a time trial, you get an Enter Your Name screen, so you know who's who.

Can negotiate minor bumps reasonably well. The lip between our carpeted living room, and the laminate dining room is no issue. However, the slightly larger lip into the kitchen is a little too high, and poor Luigi can't get back out! It's roughly thumb-height.

The little gates are easy enough to put together and dismantle, but lazy Jay could do with a quicker option.

Worth it or not?

Yeah.
Fun!
