It's a pretty noble idea, a simplified mesh to handle small things. I wonder about air control and stuff like that... and, I notice they coined World of Warcraft alot. One thing i haven't worked out is pathfinding for online games. I've always seen waypoints as sort of flawed, which is why i try to do fuzzy logic and raycasting to see where you are obstructed. But the flaw in that is process time and complexity, AI often gets caught in corners.
