PlayMyCode vs Kids

12th January 2012

Hm, I've read it too, but that was a long time ago. I can't actually remember it being that offensive? Except for some stuff at the beginning where John and John were mistreated by their dads who didn't like them playing games.

PlayMyCode vs Kids

12th January 2012

The issue, the way I see it, is that the teacher either wasn't able to, or simply ignored the chance to, inform the student about the rendering technique from which the "experiment" had been named.
Not sure which of the two possibilities is worse.

Afr0

PlayMyCode vs Kids

12th January 2012

Still, the teacher should have been able to identify raycasting as a rendering technique, and could have at least recommended "Masters of Doom" as an informal introduction to its application in a game for the first time, or pointed the student to a website*snip*

PlayMyCode vs Kids

lol...
Teacher: "What game are you playing?"
Student: "Raycasting"
Teacher didn't know that raycasting is a rendering technique.

PlayMyCode vs Kids

These weren't exactly kids... sounded like they were 15 - 17.
And yes, spinal, I agree. But I think a lot of people come into programming by way of hacking and curiosity.
Part of the reason I got into it was because I was curious about how games were mad*snip*

Poking with Plastic Printers

10th January 2012

Well, someone would have to produce the printers. But if someone could invent a printer for printing printers for printing food, then that would be completely awesome! You'd still need a powersource, of course, but given solarpower I'd predict that we'd be*snip*

F'ing Unicode!!

Heh, this debate makes me snicker.
It's not like I make functions called

just because I'm a Norwegian. For comments, I can see the issue, but even comments are nice to write in English if you w*snip*

[seemingly] Random MAV?

5th January 2012

Completely offtopic, but... this is why I'm glad I'm doing a large project right now.
Obviously I've attempted large projects in the past, but the neat thing about the project I'm doing now is that it already comes with tons of data to work with, so I don*snip*

PMC (HTML5) games vs iOS

3rd January 2012
JL, you can, if you have a mac, use XCode's iPhone simulator for testing.
Or you can sort yourself out with a Hackintosh, but from the comments it doesn't seem like it would be worth the effort.
By the way, if anyone's interested continuin*snip*

Resolutions 2012!

1. Continuing coding on Project Dollhouse alone until someone decides to help out. Fortunately I've gotten some help through the Christmas holidays by one of the previous programmers who will assist in porting the original code for the animation pipeline w*snip*

Family learning to use Tech!

Yes, that's a very good idea!
Make the payment a little lower, say 400$, then you'll hopefully get at least 800$ to spend on a server upgrade!

The cracks widen...

I'm not going to come with any suggestions. Last time this came about, I suggested we all donated money, which was not supported by anyone, least of all Jay.
I was also keen on buying the blitzcoder.com domain, but it never seemed to materialize.

How to: Hafnium

23rd December 2011
A sooped up Antimatter based remote control plane would be AWESOME!!
That idea would be pointless. Unless you developed a radar system using laserbeaming, the plane would be moving waaayyy too fast for anyone to track its position. At all. *snip*

How to: Hafnium

22nd December 2011

I'm very aware of this.
I'll admit to never fully understanding the scientific principle behind a tokamak, so I just designed my tokamak as a giant electromagnet, where the antimatter would have been floating in a magnetic field inside a torus. The whole*snip*
