Definition of Pixel Art

28th July 2009

Jayenkai and I had a slight squabble in the Mud Chat, regarding the definition of pixel art. Turns out we have two different views on what can be categorized as pixel art, and what cannot.
We can both agree to that this is pixel art.

QOTD - C++ Graphics Libraries

28th July 2009

SDL has no hardware accelerated graphics built-in, so no alpha-blending, rotating or scaling. At least not at a manageable speed in realtime. Then he's better off with the aforementioned SFML.
I have some issues with Irrlicht, but I suppose that it's work*snip*

3D calculation

First off, no to MDX. It is old, buggy and unsupported. This no is even more reinforced when there is SlimDX, which is an excellent and more complete version of DirectX for .NET than MDX ever was.
I'm not sure how those X/Y/Width/Height parameters relate *snip*

QOTD - C++ Graphics Libraries

HGE is in my opinion a pretty bad graphics library. SDL is great for interfacing with OpenGL without having to dabble with the intricacies of the Windows API, but its built-in graphical capabilities are fairly limited. I would recommend SFML. I haven't use*snip*

Where be the avvies?

Just felt like getting a change. It's nice to get a new one every once in a while.

Where be the avvies?

I see a lot of members here without avatars/avabars. Making one takes you about five minutes, and it gives others an easy way of identifying your posts and connecting them to you. I tend to subconsciously see members without an avatar as just another anony*snip*

Free Design

I have some puzzle game ideas, but I bet you're sick to death of those already. I suppose you could take my old box stacking game and do something with it. Sorry, I haven't been very creative lately either.

converting colours...

Why would you want to use the websafe palette? Is IE6 being the bottleneck once again? YouTube is phasing out support for that browser, so I think it's fairly safe for everyone to do that by now.

A welcoming screen for the uninitiated

Perhaps there should be a small close button in the corner? Then it can still be that big and not cover all of the content which shows that the community is active.

I'm sorry for not being more clear. What I really wanted to get through was the purple box in the middle; something to catch the attention of visitors. Ignore the design at the moment.

3D Websites
