I just wrote the none-word "goto" in my blog, again, triggering a crazy School Memory..

Back at school the English teacher complained on multiple occasions that I would write goto as a single word. She HATED that I'd "somehow" gotten that into my vocabulary.
I was always a great student... Well, except for the fact that I never did any homeworks. My Vocabulary was exceptional, and the teacher loved to read what work I ever bothered to actually hand in.

But Goto was one of those oddities.
Other spelling quirks were "Chimley", which I've since found out isn't as rare as she made it out to be!

I also could never quite grasp the difference between Affect and Effect.. Something that still holds true to this day. I just can't get that one right!!

Do you have any oddities?
Is there something that point-blank refuses to settle into your head?

What are you really really crap at doing!?

I consistantly forget the word "consistantly" when in conversation, but not when typing it. :/

While typing I often hit the ";" key instead of the "'". I do fix it most of the time, but not all of the time...

I know someone else who consistantly(!) gets "affect" and "effect" wrong. They also misuse "objective" and "subjective."

BTW The effect is the outcome after something has affected it.

I have a work colleague who always says "pacificly" rather than "specifically"

One thing that I really hate is (mainly) Americans on forums that say "I could care less about..." Yes, you could! What you're saying is that you DO care about that something you're claiming you don't care about.

Another that irks me is the use of "prolly" for "probably"

I know someone that says that.

|edit| I usually tell him not to get Pacific until he gets a diving suit and flippers |edit|

One word that my gob couldnt say right, and I did actually have to train it to say it properly, was the word "Nutrients"... It would come out something like "newtrions"!

That's about it really.
