I think I now understand and am getting used to knowing that the 0 on the numpad is also the insert/overwrite trigger. Took me only since the Amiga to learn that!

I was used to thinking this was a windows bug when I accidentally pressed(and not knew) this key and it went into insert mode.

Always frustrates me when Numlock is off. What makes it worse is that my laptop doesn't have a little light for Numlock, meaning that most of the time, I'm merely hoping that it's on!

My lappy states clearly on the NumPad "0" key that it also acts as INS. I'm pretty sure all of mine have always done that. Does yours not have that key labelled?

@Jay. My NumLock key doesn't have a light either. But as I never use the keypad, it doesn't bother me.

You know what's REALLY annoying...
There IS a light for Mute on the F6 key.
That's not even a standard keyboard function, yet THAT gets a light??!
Thafuq??!

I can not remember noticing ins or insert words on the 0 numpad key. I have had so many keyboards over the years. Now with the new one It somehow showed itself when I started learning the changes in the layout.

LOL!

@Jay. My F6 is "mute" and has an LED too.

I think numlock must just be permanently on on my keyboard, I've never noticed that, ha!

There is no reason for there to even be a numlock key, if you have a number pad on your keyboard, it should be on, no option needed.
