Bebop is a rock steady way to transmit chunks of data between different devices.

"An Efficient, Schema-based Binary Serialization Format", created by Rainway who've made a fantastic streaming tech for streaming games between, say, your PC and your iPad.
Apparently the (now open-source) tech is super-fast at encoding and decoding packets of data, even through Javascript, and can be used for all manner of sending/receiving uses that you might be able to come up with.
