Bee Game

And so NES Game #2 begins.

Yup, spent a chunk of today getting started on my next NES game, aiming to have it complete within 4 months as opposed to 4 years, gosh!

Day1 Progress ROM Below.

So, aiming for a simpler game this time around, with a few variants on play styles.

It's gonna be a spin off the QBert stlye of games where you have to turn all the blocks a certain colour to continue.

In this case, your bee must collect all the pollen from the flowers and returning it to the hive up to 5 at a time, whilst being attacked by Wasp stingers, Birds and Crabs.

1 or 2 players, with there being the option of 2 players playing co-operatively to beat the levels, or against each other in a single level basis, one person controls the bee, the other controls the wasps.

The difficulty curve should some from starting off with slower, fewer wasps, before increasing the number and aggression of them, before introducing more enemies as it goes along.

You can move the bee about in this version and that's about it, I'll make changes to how the bee feels in time so it has momentum and stuff, thinking having 3 speeds for the bee would be nice also, holding A makes it move quick, B gives it a slow pace, not holding either gives it regular pace. That would give the player lots of options for skillfully dodging enemies and bullets.

Thanks, day 2 might bring the wasps into the equation. That butterfl game looks and sounds lovely Jay, reminds me of spike dislike 2 a bit also, I might need to dig out the ol 'IPad4 in a minute or two

Maybe I'll include a sparkling butterfly as a points bonus perhaps. I'm already running out of available remaining sprites though, planned out using potentially 63 out of 64, eep! It'll be interesting figuring out sprite flicker routines this time around I bet! I've planned out my sprite priority so at least half of the enemies should be visible at any time.

Day 2 did indeed bring a nasty wasp into the action, with a stream of 8 bullets and a signifier before it fires.

Yush, and soon birds and crabs, because reusing sprites from ol' gameboy games makes life that bit simpler

I'm wandering if I'll get close to pushing the frame limits this time around. Hopefully I won't have to be counting clock cycles!

No updates until Sunday night prolly now, that'll count as day 3 right. I mean, if we're on windows 10 then... numbers something something.
