Blame it on Pac Man

That's it BBC, blame video games as per fuckin' usual, he shot that kid purely because he's a fuckface scroat. I player Space Invaders as a kid but do you see me shooting at the fuckin' sky?, I played Frogger but do you see me jumping around in the road?, and I don't go around eating marbles after playing Pac Man either. The BBC may want us all to go into the woods and whittle spoons but they can fuck right off.

I dunno.. I sure am getting the urge to buy some lightsabers, and go slashing away at every arrow that comes near me.

I think there's a myriad of issues when it comes to mental health, and becoming ultra focussed on a shooty game probably isn't helping.
It's not the underlying cause. It's never the underlying cause. But "people" don't seem to give a shit about that, when there's a "statement" they can make, and shift the blame to anything trivial.

... 3D "shoot the real looking people in the real looking environment" games really don't help, though.

It's just a single incident though, not something massive that's an on-going problem. They've gotta play the blame game whenever it suits them and their ideals.

Web / Game Dev, occasionally finishes off coding games also!

Lately I have been seeing and reading about how many taxes are not being payed. People seem to not to really know that taxes can be used to create safety and to educate people and to help find and help the sick.

The dream is stil to get a big pile of money and then live the perfect
Iife for yourself and a few lucky others.

I have no kids, but I would know that a bad neigbourhood and bad friends and low quality healthcare and schooling would be a recipe for a bad future.

Up until I was 7 years old, my family lived in a fairly rough part of town. I often wonder how my life would've been difference, had we not moved, back then.
The friends, and experiences you have will indeed change your outlook on life, and the sort of person you end up becoming.
And the same goes for gaming. If you spend all day wrapped up in a game about shooting people in the head, and that's all, and that's your life, then I guess it would eventually warp your mind.

Like Steve says, we didn't grow up wanting to gobble down pills*, throw barrels at carpenters, or scour through caverns picking up keys.
But we played a lot of variety, not just one WW2 shooter after another WW2 shooter, after yet another god damned WW2 shooter, all saying "Hey, let's go shoot people ... bonus points for a headshot!"

There's a reason that age ratings exist on games, nowadays.

* .. maybe not a great example! I'm on 8 a day!

Back in the day, if you had an Atari, Coleco Vision, Intellivision, you still went outside and played after school and did not even touch your gaming system until after dark, when you came in. Gaming didn't consume your life.

He won't look so hard after he gobs off the other inmates and they tenderise him and rip him a new arse.
