Programming Team

My university (the University of Central Florida) has a Programming Team. They participate nationally and internationally in competitions, every year since we started going to the South East regional we've gotten top 3. We've gotten so good that an alum (who I think works for google) has put up the money to offer the 15 team members (split into groups of 3 for the competitions) 12,000 USD scholarships a piece.

Last week, I went to a practice session for the competition that was just yesterday to get onto the team. This competition is strictly individual, and it is cut throat, so any person who was on the team last year has to try out again to get on (meaning all 15 slots are up for grabs). I made it to 25th in that competition, but a stupid mistake that I realized after would have put me into the position to be at least 13th. Both the competition and practice session are 5 hours a piece strait through. About 80 or so students participated.

Yesterday, I went to the actual competition, and bombed it . I was only able to solve 2/10 problems, putting me in 53rd place. The top 25 or so went on and they will do more competitions to narrow it down to 15.

So, a bit disappointed, but, life goes on, and there's always next year I guess..

What a shame, could've been quite the opportunity. If you want to/can, post the questions you can remember here, so that the rest of us can fail brutally.

damn shame. not to worry, though. You don't need a super team to show off your skills. Do us all proud! Beat them at their own game
