Back to Batch rendering

Bryce Madness!

I'm getting back into game development, which means i fired up my old suite of programs, Bryce 5.5 being one of them. I played around with their batch renderer, Lightning, back in the day, but now that i have 11 computers in the house, I can really see it scream.

Here's a scary concept. Heard of Mental Ray? this is discreets little project that allows you to delegate tasks to online servers to batch process your scene. Basically, a network of batch renderers just there to help process small tasks. I want to try this with Lightning, since Bryce is pretty cool to use to make some pretty good looking skyboxes.

So here's a call-out to anyone interested: Making a 3D game that uses skyboxes? As a test, I'll make them for you, but will ask that you install Lightning on your computer to see if batch computing over the net is all it's cracked up to be. On a LAN, i'm getting around 4 frames a minute at 3000x3000 with full image enhancements. Just for shits and giggles, I want to see if I can do this better through autonomous connections. Anyone want to give it a shot?

I can imagine that my upload speed would seriously hinder this.
You'd be working on about 32KBytes per second, if you're lucky, which is pretty pants by any standard.
