Socoder -> Film + TV -> Good Films?

Can anyone recommend any good films for me? It's too cold to go outside to do anything else!

Preferably something from the last millennium. I'm not too keen on modern stuff, although I thought V for Vendetta (2006) was quite good so I haven't completely given up on the next 992 years

I watched The Big Lebowski yesterday, and I liked it (from 1998 if I remember correctly).

Lawrence of Arabia is very good (my favorite movie) and fairly old, but it can be hard to sit through sometimes (very long). The 10th Kingdom is fun to watch if you have half a day to devote to it. Some other ones I like include "Support Your Local Sheriff"(older comedy, one of my favorites) and King Solomon's Mines (I prefer the latest one). Some Clint Eastwood movies such as "High Plains Drifter", "Hang 'em High", and "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" are really good. If nothing else, theres always Tron. Enough of a list for you?

If you like The Beatles, Across the Universe came out not too long ago. It's good, but long.

My favorite film is Forbidden Planet, from the 50's.

Lawrence of Arabia is awesome. I remember when I first saw it, I didn't watch any more tv for the rest of the day cos it had worn me out. But it is awesome.

I just (like 5 minutes ago) finished watching Festen with my house mates. Don't research the plot because you want it to all be a surprise. It's a Danish film about a very big and formal 60th birthday party for the head of a rich family at a hotel he owns. It's shot using the Dogma 95 rules which are very avant-garde ideas about extreme simple film making. Like no special effects or camera tricks, all hand-held cameras, must all be shot on location, etc. As a result I thought my housemates might not have enjoyed it, thinking it's too 'arty'. They absolutely loved it and asking me to get a hold of their next Dogma film too.

Yeah Blanko, Forbidden Planet.
Starring Leslie Nielson and Walter Pidgeon and Robbie the Robot too. The Krell, oh my poor Krell.

One that comes to my mind. The Thirteenth Floor. Not as action oriented nor adventous as the Matrix series but more thought provacative.
Another movie that I enjoyed but the tv series which it was based upon is better: Logans Run.

If you want a zany, twisted comedy with an assortment of oddities comedians then its A Mad,Mad,Mad,Mad World. Also, the first version of the Producers too.

If fantasy and adventure is your game: may I suggest Jason and the Argonaunts, the Seventh Voyage of Sinbad, and Clash of the Titans.

if you're in the mood for a Chuck Norris or Van Damme flicks then these are really good: Good Guys Wear Black, Bloodsport, SideKicks, Time Cop, Invasion USA, and Lion Heart.
But I recommmend above em all Rambo in First Blood.

for horror movies:

The Legend of Hellhouse,
Hellraiser,
The Phantasm series,
Nightmare on Elm Street.
And, the Haunting...first version.
and of course, the low budge movie Equinox
and Wolfen too.
