If Socoder had a calender, what would it look like? What would be each month's calender page?

Let's make a calender!!!

Everyone chip in, make an image or two, or twelve, and we'll (poll!) pick our favourites, and make a nice neat .zip of Calender Desktops for the year ahead..

You've a couple of days to do it.. Get going!!

(1600x1200, or other standard desktop resolution sizes.)

Shouldn't it be an actual calendar? With dates? Maybe put the faded image in the background? Awesome idea though.

Well, if we're picking 12 picks later, it's probably not a good idea to stick the dates on until after they're picked...!

Great idea!

But what's the theme? Are we supposed to have pictures of ourselves wearing Darth Vader suits, SoCoder logo spin-offs, member avatars, general season-related pcitures, or...? All of us don't have platdudes

Also remember to make sure that you can be seen in the nude via a reflection somewhere in the picture.

I have an idea for a background. Boring but it fits the whole SoCoder theme. I might enter this.

Original design

Based on a design Noel Cower did years ago.
Not quite done yet, but getting there.

Edit: The link above the image is not Noel's image. Noel designed a Messenger-guy with a 'fro years ago for an early version of Afr0Messenger. But it got lost, so I decided to redo it.

My SoCalendar entry - I tried out two different textures...which one do you like best?

"Old Photography":

"Black and White":

For those with widescreen, like me, here's the old photography one that fades to black on both sides. Center the image and use a black background. It's the quick alternative to making different image sizes.

Best laid plans, and all that...
If you'd like a calender for this month, pick one from above, stick it on your desktop, and imagine this was better organised!

Now accepting images for February.

You should make the calendar so that the square of a day of a particular user's birthday is their avatar, that would be cool.

Yeah! That's a brilliant idea! Except, we'd an extra large square for all of those December 31st birthdays.

Wow...is she suppose to look like she's nailed to a cross or is the cross just used to check correct proportions?

blanko: She's supposed to look like she's nailed to the cross. I don't know why, but the nails ended up looking a bit... plasticky like, even though I applied a metal material to them.
Main reason why it ended up like it did was simply because it was an easy pose. I wanted to apply some blood effects in Photoshop, but I ended up quite happy with the result as it was.

I'm not sure if I'd want to put a naked woman nailed to a cross on my desktop.

I think that image is well within the boundaries of what can be called 'Contemporary Art'.

I think that image is well creepy..
And, kinda risky for a coders forum.. As in, if that were a real woman in a photo, it would be less creepy, but just as much of a naked woman.

No pictures of naked women on the forum.
I'm pretty sure I didn't write that on the rules anywhere, but I'm also pretty sure the rules did have a "use common sense" rule.

If she was nailed to a cross then she would be hanging from the cross. It currently looks like she is just kinda standing/posing infront of it.
