Socoder -> Off Topic -> Another new guy <_>

Well, Hi there!

I'm the new guy! Norwegian in China (Studying).
Personally I'm not a big fan of making theese "Hello there, welcome me into your midst" kind of posts, but now I feel I have to, as I like this place (Yes, I have been lurking here for quite some time)

In my youth and teenage years I was programming with Blitz 2D. And hanging around good old BlitzCoder( Not quite sure what happened to that place) Those were good days, never completing the simplest project as my ambitions were to high. "I shall singlehandedly create the most awesome game known to man" That sort of thing.

Now, in my early twenties, I noticed BlitzMax and thought "Hmmmm". So I started up again, only this time I'm not too ambitious. I just want to make Pong and Tetris like stuff...

Wow, this turned into a longer post than intended.. Anyway eh.

Hi!

I was about to post a hilarious punch line, but I'm not lucid enough to come up with one right now, so I'll just settle for saying hi.

What happened was... uhm... Idigidragon bought out Blitzcoder, and hatched an egg called Coder's Workshop. So we all migrated.
Then Idigidragon set fire to it's own egg, and basically Jay made this site.

Hva skal du med Kinesisk?

Hi there!

(I'm not actually a BlitzCoder survivor, more of a Coders Workshop one... I got into Blitz about a week before BC closed down... )

Well I did hear some rumours about something called "Coders Workshop", I just never checked it out.

I was beginning to believe the 'old' community had died away..
Luckily I came over this place.. :o

He's studying Chinese, he told me in Norwegian - although I've no idea what he's supposed to know Chinese for (unless he's studying marketing and/or sales besides Chinese..)!

Partly I'm in China because Norway isn't quite my cup of tea. In some ways I love it, as I am a patriot! However I dislike certain aspects of the country. But that's a whole other topic

Anyway, the reason I am stuyding chinese is basicly because I've always wanted to learn it. I have no idea what I want to do with my life, so staying in an awesome country with nice people is a good way to spend my time. Next year I will get a 'teaching basic english' job here to support myself until I know enough chinese to enter a full chinese school and study something else
Although I might end up back in Norway doing whatever I did there..

Don't worry Scherererer, you shouldn't have to babelfish

Yep, you should definitely be sharing some of that oil to your poor, poor cross-border neighbours
