Socoder -> Off Topic -> Pirating Siri

I am amazed at hearing how some people go through so much shit just to get a pirate version of Siri. The legit version is only £2.49 and would work staight out of the box FFS!.

That is quite surprising. I thought people only used pirating methods for pricey items when they needed them.

Is the piratey version set up for hacking/playing/editing? That could easily be the draw.

All the raw, animal magnetism of a rutabaga.

When I first got my iPod Touch somebody installed Cydia on it for me, I've never had a reason to use Cydia to this day and probably never will.

Look at this game for instance: www.mrqwak.com/games/retroracing/

The person that put Cydia on my device laughed at me in a sarcastic and snorting way because I paid money for it, the game was £1.49 and the enhanced car pack was a further £0.69. That developer put a lot of time and effort into that game and I can't see any reason to begrudge him of so little money for such a big effort.

Cydia is good for a couple of things, such as adding widgets to the home screens, enabling wallpaper and multitasking on older ipods, a bunch of random hacks for arranging icons differently and of course emulators.

I understand that Cydia may have legitimate uses but ripping-off low priced games is SoScrooge. If they can afford to buy the device then surely they can afford to pay a couple of quid for a game or app.

There are some websites that mention that Siri, or the idea for Siri, was ripped from Star Trek.

Talking Computer.

Why someone did not make something similar, sooner.
