It seems that, this past couple of weeks, everyone's suggesting little odd ideas that are planting themselves in my head, and making me want to tackle games.

Today, Tony Wolverton on Facebook suggested I tackle a board game.
The idea did that usual festering thing, until it jogged a long forgotten idea in my head.

Back when I had my LG Cookie phone, I thought it might be nice to make a silly little Monopoly clone.
I drew up the board, drew a bunch of cards, wrote down the rules, and more..
Then I started coding it,and rapidly fell out of love with MidletPascal!

Stupid Pascal. Bah!!

So, the game was pretty much abandoned. Lost in the hoarded landscape of my harddrive, rotting forever.

The gameplay idea was sound, and the whole concept is still rumbling through the inside of my head.
There's even an artefact leftover from the original design of the game.
The player counters were designed using lots of circles. Each little counter being a set of four inverted circles to create a different looking icon for each player.
You might be able to spot one of these player counters somewhere on this site!!

So.. Is it time to revisit it?
I'm thinking it might be.
It's a rather large project, and it'll probably require me to redraw most of the assets, since they're no longer being crammed onto a little LG Cookie display. They now need to go up to, at least, iPad Retina sized displays!
Yikes!!

I thought it deserved a tracking topic.
Time to get cracking, Jay!
There's a whole lot of work to get done, and only a week to do it!!

I should've been spending a good amount of time working on this, today.
Instead, I sat outside for a bit, 'cos it was sunny!
I played a lot of WordsWithFriends, and got sod all coding done.

Whoops!

Started with the basic board layout features.
Essentially a simple grid, with multi-directional tiles, each with titles and a preset path.


The board zooms in and out with the usual "If it's moving, it wiggles around" zooming issues, and movement is working nicely.
Next up, I think I'll draw some nice player counters.
