We don't have Wallmart over here but everyone seems to know what that is, just thought other parts of the world might have know about TESCO.

We have ASDA over here which is apparently owned by Wallmart.

According to this TESCO is worldwide also, including the US.

What does Tesco Sell?

It would be quicker to say what it doesn't sell! Basically it sells pretty much everything. Think of a bigger word for hypermarket and that's Tesco. It's equivalent to Walmart and then some.

Not all Tescos are big though - they range in size from Tesco Express (simple, local convenience stores with a limited range) to midsize to FUUUUUCKING HUGE!

There are at least seven Tescos within 5 miles of me - 1 HUUUUUUUUGE (Kingston), 1 extremely big (Bletchley, my local), 1 above average supermarket size (Wolverton) then at least 4 Expresses.

Generally they are big though and my favourite of the big four chains (Asda, Morrisons, Sainsburys and of course Tesco).

What does Tesco Sell?

Everything. Including their own mothers... And lies.

Not quite. There aren't generally rats or mice (inside the store). Occasionally they do have birds flying about though. They have price tags on.

Nothing much has happened in the past year, but interesting news has been unveiled, today!

https://www.bolton.gov.uk/website/news/Pages/NewlibraryforLittleLever.aspx

Whereas every other town/village is having their local libraries scrapped, we're getting a new one!! Huzzah!!

The approximate "six times the size" building description sounds a lot like the old Tesco building, but speculation is rife over whether that'll be the chosen place.

Hmm.. Curious..

Meanwhile, KwikSave has now been changed (AGAIN) to a Nisa store, so the KwikSave name is no longer part of our village

Where my parents live there used to be a Nat West, a TSB, a Halifax and a Yorkshire Bank.

All of 'em have gone now. It's a sign of the times. The only time I set foot in a bank is to pay in a compo cheque for Royal Mail losing my stuff. Other than that, it's all online banking. The olds don't do things like that, though.

Yeah, all my banking is done online.
Then come Xmas or Birthday, you get the odd £10 in a card, and have to figure out what the fuck you're going to do with it...!

For me, I'll continue as-is.
For Mum, though. She does an awful lot of physical-cash banking, and has already had to do 2 trips into town to do things she used to be able to do down the street.
Frustrating.. :\

I wonder if these new shitty fivers are an attempt to phase out physical money by getting everyone to hate it?

Library News
The council's bought/claimed the old Tesco store, and the plans are going ahead to move the old library into a much larger building.
They're now doing the design planning stage, although the basic building won't be touched. Just the interior will be rearranged.

The "New Library" will also house a refurbished health center, although which of the two older health centers are being replaced, I'm not quite sure yet.

From the front. Library side.

From the back. Health side

Fantastic fact about the bottom pic.
The layout of the area has been identical for decades.
We've had many a Car Boot Sale in the car park on the bottom pic, back when it was still a Kwik Save.
Next to the little brick wall, one special Car Boot Sunday in the early 90's, there was a man selling all his Amstrad CPC games, and I grabbed an absolute fuckton!!!
That was an awesome weekend!!

Llloyds in Langley Park, Lloyds in Sacriston just up the hill, Lloyds in Ushaw Moor and Esh Winning just over the other side of the valley over the hill... All gone!

I do do a lot of online banking, I dont handle cheques (well, rarely I do get one to cash), there's plenty of cash machines, and to be honest, I use mostly contactless, even in bars down durham when I'm out. I'm I'm one of them that wont miss having a local branch... But I do understand for those that do need it, because if you cannot drive to durham, the buses around here are a fucking disgrace, pardon my swearing... But honestly, Durham City is 4 miles east of here... And it takes FORTY MINUTES to get there on a bus... And its a fortune as well!

And this is a big village as well, one of the biggest ex-pit villages in the area.

So I can sympathise with folk, especially the elderly... But alas, the banks have turned into everyone else, they dont want to provide decent customer service, or invest in customer service, they want the loot, and they want to keep it!

Next time theres a financial crash... Cos their will be... I'd let the banks rot me, if I was PM I'd make the banks hand over details of all the customers they have, and pay them direct, instead of giving them wads of cash for them to keep their grubby little mitts on, like they did last time.

Bastards
