Neato.

Although, as I said to Mark via Twitter a few months back, it'll probably be a long time before I bother to make the change. It's usually a good couple of years until I bother, mostly because I'm too fucking lazy to have to recode my entire sodding framework!!

Right now, I'm fairly comfortable with what I can do in Monkey, and although there are limits, they're limits that I've learned to live with.

Also, last I checked, Monkey2 didn't have a HTML5 target.
Is that still the case?!

I'm not sure I can live without HTML5 anymore. It's certainly become an essential part of my devkit.

I looked at the Monkey2 site to find out what it does that Monkey doesn't, and just glazed over. For example; "Anonymous lambda functions". I don't even know what that is.

It doesn't sell itself to me. Too much focus on geek speak and not enough explaining shit in laymen's terms.

To be fair, Blitz has always been like that, too.
Unless you can get yourself into Mark's head, he's not very good at explaining new stuff.
Types and Lists were a bloody nightmare, even with the examples.

Mark loves to bring in modern language features, but I wish he'd focus on his real strengths and keep these languages simple, fast and focus on game features.

I feel Blitz3D was his high point, BlitzMax didn't do it for me at all (I know a lot of people love it) and while I like Monkey a lot, it's not what I'm looking for anymore. I have no idea where he's heading with Monkey 2.

I always considered B3D to be "Better" for doing large image output (eg for my videos!)
When using B3D, you could use the ,3 graphics mode to allow "Larger than your monitor supports" image rendering, which was GREAT.
Recently, however, I discovered that if you use BMax's MaxGUI functions, you can create a window, and then add a "Larger than the window" canvas area onto it.
This has meant I can output 1920x1080 video stuff directly from a windowed app, which is really bloody useful.

... Bit off topic, there!

But basically what I'm saying, badly, is that Mark does tend to add all the old stuff, before moving on to new stuff.
It's just a shame we've not seen a sequel to B3D, yet.
I'd love to fuck about with 3D some more..

The HTML5 target is in the form of Emscripten (which I havent messed with yet - also its WIP).

I am not that sure yet if I wil start using mx2 anytime soon. I do hope some kind of 3d gets added. Html5 I would like to!

The download was around 70mb! Unpacked around 500mb. What the hell

If I don't get hooked to The Elder Scrolls Online which I bought a few days ago I might start studying/taking apart the banana's and start filling a github page with examples.
