We live out in the sticks. The nearest shop (tiny corner shop with a lil post office in it) is 1.5 miles away and it's bastard expensive because of the "convenience". Nearest town is 6 miles, nearest Tesco is 8 miles.

Buses? Ha! We don't have those out here!

So we can't NOT have a car.

Aaah, that makes sense.

It's not just out in the sticks that you need a car.

Where I live, Milton Keynes, it's possible to use the bus service, but it literally takes 6x (at the very least)longer to get from anywhere to anywhere by bus. The bus routes here have to cover all the local estates and main grid roads, so they take any age. I can honestly walk from one bus stop to another in a neighbouring estate quicker than it would take the bus to get there.

Milton Keynes was famously built for the car and now they're trying to get people to use public transport. It'll never happen. Plus bus fares cost stupid money. A two minute bus ride from where I work to a large shopping mall costs £1.80. I'd need to get a mortgage to pay to get all the way home from work!

Yeah, bus prices are stupid.
A bus from our village to the nearest town, which is pretty much two lengthy roads away, costs abiut 2.70.
So, if you want to go there and back, that's over £5 just for the trip!

Instead, most people buy the Daysaver ticket. £4.20 for all day travel around the entire Greater Manchester area. As many buses as you'd like.

... So quite why the short trip is more than half that price, is beyond me...

Not a bad looking car, but it would look better in black!

I never wash the car. It'll be black soon enough.

I don't wash mine either, it started off as diamond blue and is now sheer filth.
