I've come to a conclusion, I can't get on with a project when I have music playing..... BUMMER!

One of the reasons I switched to listening to JPop is because the lyrics don't distract. Just something in the background, with a decent melody.

It's a weird thing going on here. Earlier on I couldn't code a thing with the music, yet now I have Absolute 80's going and I am now coding like my life depends on it.

Once you're in the "zone" the world can go bang around you and you wouldn't notice. By "you", I mean "me", btw!

I code downstairs in the main lounge, where I'm often surrounded by cats, dogs, the tv on and my wife (and sometimes my son) chatting away. Most of it I can completely ignore once I'm coding. Until the cats jump on the keyboard, at least!

I let Beaky have the run of the house, I often have her coming in the bedroom and landing on my head without warning. Little fucker even lands on the keyboard and looks up at me as if to say "I'm fluffy, gimme attention!".

At least Beaky gives something back. My cats just climb up my legs and/or scramble over the keyboard until I give them food, then they fuck off. It's a one-sided relationship with a cat!

If I'm doing arty shit, for games or t-shirts or whatever, any music is fine.

For stuff that I need to think about, like coding, I prefer silence but sometimes I listen to Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd or something. Though admittedly I've miscalculated the acceptable noise level on occasion and told Stevie Nicks to "shut the fuck up".

Managing to code today with Absolute 80's playing, perhaps I was just having a bad day before this.
