Socoder -> On Topic -> Laptop fan dying = New Laptop

I was looking around for information on what the situation is when a laptop fan starts making a weird sound. (Marrathoning fallout 4 on a 3.5 year old laptop is hard I guess) I read that it could be a sign it might soon stop completely. So I decided to order a new replacement gaming laptop.

The previous one was a MSI with 8gb, 740m, 1tb-hdd and i5-4200m.
The new one will be a MSI with 8gb, 1050, 1tb-hdd and i5-7300hq.

Here a link : (page will be gone if the product is sold out)
www.alternate.nl/MSI/GL62M-7RD-047NL-15-6-notebook/html/product/1315952?lk=6053

The cpu is 50+ percent faster and the gpu is +/-300 percent faster. The memory is also faster at 2400mhz. The only thing less about the new setup is the slow hdd.

A msi laptop with a 128gb m.2 sdd was only 50 euro more expensive but I though it would be a pain to start sorting and setting up everything(cloud ect) for two drives. 128 gb is not big.

It should be here tomorow. There is a free gaming mouse included and the game Rocket League(steam key I think)

So, tomorow I will be busy with installing and setting up. One thing I am hoping for is that compiling will be a lot faster with the new laptop.

Not to sure if I will be upset if there are dead pixels. That is a big reason for me not to spend to much on these laptops.

@gfk - I am not that good at tech stuff. I fried two systems in my life. (Sparks flying ect.) Taking things apart I can somewhat do but putting back together is also a problem.
I think there was some paste involved also.

If I can find a shop that can cheaply replace the fan then I might still do that.

And I only have to save for a couple of months to buy a system like this.

Fair enough. You never really know with laptops. On some you can get the fan out just by removing the keyboard. On others you need to disassemble 90% of it.

I had to disassemble 90% of my laptop just to replace my drive with an SSD. Funny thing, if I want to replace the memory, I just need to loosen one screw and pop off a tiny panel. I can even replace the DVD drive by loosening one screw, and the whole thing slides out.

I am setting things up at the moment. No dead pixels! It now has a ton of downloading to do.

I tested the scripted amiga emulator just yet and to my dissapointment it does not run the a1200 demo's fluently.

Downloading is going not that good tbh. The download speed stays at <4mbs per second. Been that way for a whole day now. I should have 50mbs per second because that is what the previous laptop could do.

I am going to reset the modem and see if that fixes it.

edit:No - Maybe it will automagically fix itself in the near future.
