MS is removing Windows Paint Linkage

Paint, I can deal with.. Not having a classic Minesweeper/Solitaire is a fucking horrific thing...

Somewhat ironic that Apple seem to be adding more and more to each MacOS iteration, whilst MS are doing the exact opposite.
.. And yet somehow expect people to go "Oh, wow, cool! Now Windows is even less powerful. I gotta buy that!!"

Less powerful and More resource heavy, wooo!! and people wander why I'm sticking with Windows 7 for as long as humanly possible.

Paint is a great lil tool for kids in particular though. Try teaching em photoshop instead, not an easy ride.

I don't understand. It's not like Paint is costing them in ongoing development.

Removing it doesn't make sense.

I do all of my artwork in MS Paint (old version XP-ish; I can't stand the ribbon bar in later versions). The old versions of Paint are clean, clear and simple - perfect for my needs.

Try affording Photoshop, costs shitloads so I'm told.

Yeah, I still have my software legit copies from when I was Refresh Creations which is handy. No need to updagrade it to their monthly subscription BS

Ugh.. Don't get me started on Adobe's bloody subscription model..
When CoolEdit crapped out a while back (it's started randomly working again, btw!!) I actually headed to Adobe's site to purchase a new copy of their "We bought it, rebranded it, and stuck a higher price on it, because .. FUCK YOU!" remake, Adobe Audition.

£20.22
Not a bad price..
Hmm.. Wait.. What's that..!?!

A MONTH!?!?
£20 A FUCKING MONTH!?!?
For something, the basis of which, they didn't even fucking code themselves...

FOOOOOOOOK!!!

But, like I said, luckily CoolEdit has fixed itself. I'm once again happy with that.

So, hurray for old stuff, and long live Classic Paint.

*BURN THE RIBBON!!!*

I little googling will find you classic versions of such software, even info on creating shortcuts to things like classic control panel. Not that I advocate such things, but classic notepad is much better.

I know it's not hard to knock up a clone of MS Paint, but they should make it open source, I'm sure there's plenty of fans out there that would tinker with it.

Latest news..

They're not "scrapping it", they're just moving it to their Windows Store "where people can still download it for free."

You can almost hear the cheers at MSHQ as they stupidly think they've finally stumbled on a way to get people to actually use the Windows Store..

Lovely Pic, BTW

Thank goodness for oldversion.com also.

I tend to get a few choice bits of software from that site.
