Third indoor aerial for Mum, and her bedroom TV still does that squelchy ’’not enough signal’’ crap. Considering you can LITERALLY see the TV Tower from the bedroom window, there's really no excuse. Starting to think it might be the actual TV that's the problem.

Is it amplified?, a too powerful signal at the TV's input can be just as bad as no signal. Ordinary unamplified roof top aerial is better.

This one's amplified. Previous two weren't.
Am going to try switching TVs, mine vs hers, tomorrow...
I'm thinking it might be a shittily small buffer on the internal Freeview decoder.

I would have thought the manufacturer would at least have the decency to ensure the buffer can handle stuff. They're shooting themselves in the foot by making shit products, they're a disgrace to lemmings!

Its not just mast visibility, its the distance. Where I used to live I could see the Emley Moor mast on a clear day but it was still the thick end of 30 miles away (its HUGE). That distance is a bit too much of ask for an indoor aerial - anything more than about 10-15 miles is less than ideal.

I'd get a pro to run an extra cable from your roof aerial. Probably won't cost much more than a decent indoor aerial anyway.

10/11 miles from Little Lever to Winter Hill.
I'm in the back bedroom, and am using an un-amplified generic shitty little bog standard aerial. My signal has no issues whatsoever.
Mum's in the front bedroom facing Winter Hill, with a bloody huge amplified aerial.
I 100% reckon it's the crappy internal freeview that's the problem.

I'll be experimenting later on, today.

I read a article about interference a while ago. Said to place the device in different corners to see if that improves it. Not sure if that is useable.

Forgot all about this!
Finally got round to doing it, today, and yes...
My tv in mum's room is crystal clear even on the HD channels.
Mum's tv in my room is a fucking glitchfest...

So, was definitely the Freeview Tuner that's the cause.

Luckily, I tend to iStream all my tv watching, so it won't be a problem for me.
And thankfully, Mum can now watch TV without me having to listen to grrr.gllepp.grrp.gllll.. every minute or so.

Do your indoor aerials have variable gain controls?

Nope, just a standard circular aerial plug.. I could try twiddling that like a dial, see if it helps?

Could also try turning it off and on again.

For absolute testing, found my old Freeview Digibox and hooked that up.
Works perfectly fine.
It's definitely (99.9% sure) the internal Freeview that's the problem.
It must just have a really shit buffer, or something.
