Had enough of government controlling my life. Being on their bullshit benefit system is pissing me off, there is no certainty in knowing whether or not I'll get paid, I don't like uncertainty. When I went to my previous WRAG appointment I had a long talk with a rather helpful job coach. I told her how I had gotten bored with the volunteering I was doing at the charity shop and how un-structured it had got since the old manager retired, she then asked me what I like doing and we looked through a load of resources that coincidently still bored the fuck out of me. She then asked me to hang on a couple of minutes, she said she had somthing that may interest me, she showed me the course that's in that link and asked me what I think, I was like "Weyhey ". It's government funded and I figured what the Peking-Duck have I got to lose, it's worth a try and I quite enjoyed myself today. Still got anothe 14 sessions to go I think and I assume we're doing some kind of exam at the end of it.

Cool.
My Mum went on a "DIY" course a while back (last year, when they took my PIP away, and Mum was sent off to the Job Center each week :\ )
Plastering, Plumbing and other bits and pieces of DIY. She really enjoyed it, and even ended up going back after the main course had finished.

Sometimes it's nice to take advantage of these things.

.. But only when it fits. Sometimes it's just bollocks!

After the mental health worker set up the volunteering it was OK for the first 18 months, but when they reshuffled the workers my position as white goods test engineer were blown out. I can't do heavy lifing so all I could do were odd jobs at that place, I felt like a gooseberry.

This is the first time that the jobcentre has actually properly helped me, I was surprised as fuck.

I was told that I didn't have to take the course if I didn't feel up to it, fact is I'm ill as fuck, but I can't let a chance like this slip through the net. It's not every day I get offered this kind of stuff.

Job Centre never did fuck-all for me. I was on the sick for ages but was made to go for medicals every three months, then they made me go and see this bloke from "A4E" who basically railroaded me into going self-employed as an alternative to "getting a proper job", even though they had it in black and white that I was medically unfit.

Oh, and they sent me for "cognitive behavioural therapy" and the first time I was there I was five minutes late. The woman who I was meant to see was 15 minutes late, and she sat there and bollocked ME for being late - even though I was there a full ten fucking minutes before she was! Told Job Centre they could fuck themselves if they thought I was gonna be spoke to like a school kid.

When I originally got turned down for ESA there was this twat at the jobcentre that told me that I should cancel the tribunal and set up as a self employed delivery driver, she said "delivery drivers get £16 an hour". Yeah right!... By the time I hire the van, insure it, insure the goods inside it, put the fuel in and pay my taxes; what the fuck will I be left with for rent, power, poll tax and food?, sweet fuck all that's what.

What sort of delivery driver? Delivering rainbow dust and fucking unicorns??

Yeah more than likely Dave, she seemed to think that because I used to work as a delivery driver I could do it now. I asked her exactly what part of heart problem and mobility problem does she not understand.

They asked me if I wanted to work in a call centre again, as that's what I did before.

What? A call centre, affectionately known by my GP as a "stress farm"? Where I have to deal with the sort of people who've left me on medication for the past ten fucking years? The sort of place where I nearly punched a jumped up little middle-manager twat one Saturday for being on my case, telling me I'm not working fast enough?

Oh yes, fucking sign me up right away!!

If there's one thing I can't stand it's gotta be whip-crackers, that's why I can't work in somewhere like McDonald's. When a new worker goes there the previous noob gets promoted up a notch, if I had some dweeb cracking that whip at me they would go in with the fries or get their face branded on a hot plate. I have quite a few complicated mental glitches.

I used to work for British Gas, and basically when you've taken the call you have to log all the details. If you haven't taken another call in about two minutes, they have this army of knobheads who basically just sit monitoring you all the time, and they ring you to tell you to hurry up. Logging call details takes time but they don't get that. Next time that customer calls, whoever takes the call needs to know exactly what I've said and done.

So he'd done it about five times already this particular Saturday, and the next time he did it I said look mate, I'd get it done a lot quicker if you'd just fuck off home and find sommat else to do with your day, and hung up. So when he rang back straight away I just flipped my shit. I could see him about 50 yards away from where I was sat and I went storming over and give him a proper bollocking in front of everybody. At which point one of the supervisors (who you don't normally see from morning to night) came running over waving her arms, just as I was about to punch him out of his fucking chair.

So I told her he was being a total cunt and she told me to sort it out with my supervisor (who wasn't in that day). I made the fucker write down his name and ID for that, which he did on a scrap of paper and threw it at me.

He never bothered me again. He was only some 18 year old streak of piss as well, getting ideas above his fucking station.

|edit| I do say I'm not a people person and I'm really not, though I can get along with pretty much anybody. But piss up my back and you'll know about it.

One time a job centre wanted me to go to a temp job in the end part of another province. I only had a bycicle. I think they wanted to get rid of me! I had injured myself in the previous job I had from them and had to do weeks of physio. The goverment expects you to to travel some 2 hours a day. I never went to that job and went for treatment for my depression that I had since middle school. Turns out I was schizophrenic(explains the weird things I experienced - people just think you are on drugs and want you to work) Got a 80 to 100% dissability. Should of done that earlier.

I never liked those job agencies. I had to cycle for about 1.5 hours to the job agency every friday(after work) to bring the work paper. I was not at the adult income level yet so a car and license was unaffordable.
