Until that happens..

You need to pay in-game currency to play the fucking game.
Luckily you can spend real money to do that. |edit| correction, you can only use Ingame currency |edit|

Fucking modern fucking games.

Gripe : Touchscreen doesn’t work. Menu is laid out like it would, but it doesn’t.

Gripe : initial start of game, wants me to position the ball. So I used the left thumbstick, but that span the cue around, not moved the ball. So I used the right thumbstick... but that also span the cue around.. so I had to hit the Y button, then move the ball, then hit Y to return to cue movement..

So. Not good then.

Gripe : The "spin the cue" turns the cue to the direction you’re holding on the thumbstick, not tilts left and right like you’d expect. Went to options/controller, and there was literally no options in there. It was a picture telling you what to use, not letting you select.

Gripe : To "shoot" you have to hold A to power up, then let go when ready. It gave me no warning about that, and I "tapped" the cue ball about 3 times in a row before I learned that...
I’m not a fan of tutorials, but for fuck sake, at least tell me that...

I've give up with virtual games of my favourite "real world" games... Its all a cash grab now!

I used to like "Golf Clash", well, until I realised a few things... First was, it should've been called "Golf Playoff", because every game nigh-on ended up with a "closest to the hole" playoff, on later courses, you could play the perfect match, and the other player would just bash the twatting ball willy nilly and you'd still end up with a playoff, and get beat... Silly!!!

Then, the realisation that so far into it, after upgrading clubs etc etc, to get any further, you really needed to buy gems, in order to buy coins, in order to upgrade clubs... It's a sneaky fucking system, but pardon the pun, they had it off to a tee with that... I started to hit the grind for cash setup and it just wasnt fun anymore... Especially with the play off thing nearly every f***ing time!!!

So I just uninstalled it, though, a lot of lads played it at work, cos you could challenge other Facebook friends, and a few put quite a bit of coinage into the thing... I personally couldnt see the point, because like I said, more often then not, it just ended up being a closest to the hole lottery, and you'd still get bored eventually so all that investment would be, for nowt!

Bothered to look at the "shop" on the main menu.
Apparently you CAN'T buy IAP coins, so everything's Ingame only.

The shop simply lets you buy different coloured "better" cues and ball sets. Because.. !?

Why would you need to buy a better cue in a videogame???

Dog shit isnt it, I mean, better tips equals more screw and side I suppose, but that's all I can think of really in terms of "in a game" attribute that can be upgradable (And chalk), in real life, yep, the tip thing is a no brainer, then there's where the joint is, thats important if you want to use extension pieces... As far as I'm aware, they are all the same length nearly, and most are made from ash.

But regarding power and accuracy, that in the most part has nothing to do with the cue, that's down to the players arm power and skill, in most cases, both of these attributes combined... I dare bet if you give Steve Davis a broom shank, and handed me a cue worth £1000 and was created by a real craftsman... He'd still kick my arse on a pool/snooker table!

Was in a boozer long, long ago... and me and a mate were having a tippy-tap about on a pool table. Bloke comes up and offers to play the winner, which turned out to be me. I'm utterly shit at pool, it's worth pointing out.

Anyway, this bloke... no word of a lie... he thought he was Tom Cruise in The Colour of Money, flipping the cue about and all sorts of shit. So I'm thinking to myself.... fuck! This is gonna be over quick.

Only leathered him! Wish I'd put a tenner down.

Another pool game popped up today.
This time Billiard (because they could only afford one?) is a 3D game, reminiscent of Super Monkey Ball Billiards.
.. but...

A) Music. The music is constantly looping, and frustratingly so. When you’re trying to play a nice relaxed lengthy game of pool, you don’t want to have heard the same loop 18 times in the first frame.
Shut that off, before you begin.

B ) Repetitive Audio. Computers can do audio pitch shifting. For the love of god, use it, so that not every flaming ball hitting another ball sounds exactly the same.
This is the same issue that annoys me on Tipping Point, where every single coin sounds exactly the same.
Real world not be have sound always same.

C) CLACK. When a ball hits against the edge of the table, it hits a sponge-like material and goes "boomp" off it.. it does NOT sound like the sound of a ball thwacking against a really hard bit of wood, really really hard.

D) CLACK 2. When a ball VERY GENTLY taps against the edge of the table, it typically goes "bup". It does NOT sound EXACTLY THE SAME as the previous ball thwacking against a really hard bit of wood, really hard. ...

Lazy sound design.
Really lazy sound design.

Also, the camera's a bit rubbish, and jumps around at random, and doesn’t focus on the actual action, sometimes leaving you staring blankly at a pocket for no good reason.

But other than that, it's not too bad, and I enjoyed a good 3 or 4 frames before calling it a night. Much more than with Premium Pool. (Although I’d enjoy Premium Pool more if they ditched the frustrating as hell timer on it.)

Note : they’re determined to make you use the motion controls, but they’re not needed. Hold R for power, then tap A to shoot.

I didn't dare mention this one to you Jay, although the video seemed OK. It's also cheaper than the other one.

Yeah, it's actually quite playable.
Shame about my fussiness when it comes to audio

There's a third Pool game coming, next week...

FFS, it's costing me a fortune..

"Pool" is the imaginatively titled third Pool game on Switch.

Long story short, it can fuck off.

The heavy marble physics are abysmal, the menu system is absolute crack, ("play or ... ... play"), the controllers are all but ignored (left to aim, Right stick to power*, B to quit.. thats yer lot) and ... well, sound complaints again.

This is absolutely horrendous, and is SO obviously just a craptastic cash grab.
AVOID...
AVOOOOIIID!!!!

(* By "right stick to power”, I don’t mean “pull back to a point, then flick release to shoot”. It simply acts like a regular digital button. Hold for more power.)

3D Billiards, Pool and Snooker.
Not sure when it popped up on Switch eShop. Spotted it, yesterday.

Same audio issue that annoys me, in that all the clicks sound fucking identical, to the point where two very slow moving balls end up going "CLICK" in the same way that the cue ball hitting another ball really fast might go.
Proof here.

I this screenshot, the first few balls have been pocketed. I can slightly tell, if I squint, that the top right ball is green, and the brown is obvious, as is the 9 ball. But the other three?
One's the 8 ball.
Who knows which!!!

"Made in Unity"
I don't want to say "off the shelf and lazy", but the finishing touches are all missing.

I noticed them in the special offers earlier when I took a rummage. Didn't want to mention them, based on the crap games you bought earlier in the year. And yeah, it doesn't look great in screenies. But at least the dark ball (middle far-left), is a SoCoder fan!

Snooker 2019 has just launched on Switch.
Nicely presented, no audio issues, a very good Snooker Game.

My only complaints.

1. There's a really annoying "swoosh" that flickers very quickly across the screen after every turn the CPU takes. Could do with being able to turn that off.
2. Really disappointed that there's no Pool option. I know.. I know.. it's "Snooker, not pool"., but given how well rounded this engine is, it's a damn shame that the option isn't there,

Commentary, Audience, Music... all have separate volume settings in the options! Awesome!!

Overall : Highly recommended. 10/10

Sounds good. Perhaps they're working on Pool too - especially since that is more popular the world over. Snooker is pretty much a "British Empire" game.

Just went onto NintendoLife and found the review of this - https://www.nintendolife.com/reviews/nintendo-switch/snooker_19

Yep. They seem quite disturbed by the odd looking player characters, but... fuxake, who cares about that.
Stop watching the men, and start staring at their balls.

Also, no women chrs... Just sayin'
