Continuing their recent trend of outpricing everyone's bank account, the new MacMini starts at about $200 more than I paid for my ’’mid-range’’ one that I bought a couple of years ago.

I had the thought that the pro ipads would be very expensive! (+/- 2000$) So I bought the cheap one recently.

Apple has a good business model, thankfully I was exposed to how good their business model was back at the iPod stage, all that dosh I've saved. My last hardware purchase was a 2nd hand laptop for 560p, that's pence, not pounds!

Happy coding!

Nah, they're going TOO far with the pricing, IMO.
I used to make iPhone games, and could say to folk "Just grab a cheap iPod Touch as a starter device", and for the most part that's still a semi-viable option, but the iPod Touch is getting really old at this point, tech-wise.
They've ruined their own marketplace. Everything is overpriced, and the sorts of people who will happily pay £1000 for a fucking phone are unwilling to pay £1 for a game.
It's completely and utterly fucked up.

* But I still use an iPad every day!

Interestingly we did a release at work a couple of weeks ago and a lot of the iOS users had iPhone XS or XS Max devices... those devices were only released in September and cost over 1000 for a base model. The way I see it, these people have the disposable income to spend 5 quid on a premium title for their new device.

I think Apple's marketplace is thriving. People don't see a 1000 device, they see a 50 pound a month contract.

I'm turning my old 2011 mac mini into a retro gaming machine. Installed win10 on it, just needs a nice emulator frontend... if only I could find the source for that one I made a few years ago. It probably can't handle anything better than ps1/n64 emu, but that's fine by me

Ipad air and ipad mini now available. Things are expensive again. I was hoping to give a mini to my mother if it was cheap.

The chip in the air is the a12 bionic but the 64 gb is priced at around 600 over here. With a stand cover at 80 euro the thing would cost around 700.

I checked the space left on my older ipads and I use around 20gb with every app installed. The non64gb model is now 256gb.

The old ipad 2017 still is pretty snappy, so no need to upgrade that one tbh.

Yeah, I was going to order one.. upgrade mine and give mum the current model.
..
Until two things happened.
1. I checked my bank balance, remembering my financial situation is more yet "normal"
2. I realised I wouldn't use any more cpu than I already do. Pushing KORG to the max is as hard as I push the iPad, and.. I can do that.. without issues.

Nah, I'm fine as is.

(looks at lenovo T420 laptop, glances at similarly aged desktop PC)

I'm okay for buying new hardware. Might get a replacement phone though come May, despite my best efforts the battery life on this ol xperia xa just aint cutting it for pogo.

Then again, I do have to pay off the credit card still... yeah, my phone is fine for the moment.
