Pokemon Sword/Shield

Preordered it a while ago, finally got to play it over the past half hour or so.
Initial impression..

Running into a wall goes 'thwunk'
Running into a bush also makes the same "thwunk" sound.
Running into a pebble on the floor, which stops you in your tracks because it's far too big to step over*... .. also makes the same "thwunk" sound.

This is my initial impression of the game.
Like when the pool balls all go "SMACK!!" when they're tapping gently, this is what stuck out to me, most, on my initial playthrough.

I haven't caught any pokymens yet. I have no balls.

* it isn't.

Much of the same, so far.
Wander down a closed path, fight a bit, meet other people who want to fight, fight a bit, and then fight some more.
Meh..

I loved the old Pokemon games, and had a few, but I never rushed out to buy any of them.

The only one I actually finished was Pokemon Yellow (well, completed the main quests - didn't catch every Pokemon). I kinda got bored way before the end on the others. I enjoyed them when I played them, but yeah, I expect these to be much the same. Therefore, I'm going to wait a bit. Which one did you get - Sword or Shield (or is it just one game nowadays)?

I got Sword. I don't know if there's any difference other than the mystery magical end-game Pokemon.
.. but I honestly couldn't care if there is!!

One thing that's been pointed out, is if you're aiming to buy a Switch Lite, and two copies of Pokemon digitally, so that you can play two copies simultaneously on a single account, you'll need to buy both.
Quirky issue, but .. at least you get the chance to.
If it were only one Pokemon game, then two consoles could never share the game on a single account...
(If you sign up your Switch Lite with the same account, you can apparently share/download all your digital games to both, but it force-quits a game if you try to play it on two switches at the same time.)

...
Reached the Wild Zone, today, and .. yeah, it's nice and all, but it's basically just a larger "route" with a bit more openness to it.

.. and then you exit "Wild Area" and the camera locks back into place, whilst you're in an area the looks lovely and scenic and is exactly the sort of area where having camera control would be advantageous.
But no..
Locked off, static and dull.

So not exactly the 3D openworld game that people have actually been wanting. Ho hum.
